I've also have tried to reach Chris after taking a trappers course. He was there and did the bear portion of the class. I requested to join his site also with no luck. If there is another way to reach out to him to purchase some of his traps could someone help me please.
The offset for the lock is irrelevant if the bear is right paw or left paw dominate the lock could still end up on the inside of its leg in the bite chew zone

I watched your vid a few times it's ,very unclear as t what actually fires the trap. I know there's gotta be a spring loaded device somewhere, but nothing in the vid shows that. Whereas my old Aldritch trap isn't legal any more, so I'd like to get it right. I've been trapping for close to 70 years, so this is no time to ln in court!
The steel critter done traps have springs on the cable outside the tube, the spring pushes the loop shut. I don't recall this one having springs. I definitely put springs on mine when I made it, didn't take long. Just a piece of 6" pvc with some 3/16 rod bent up and welded. I put a shield on mine so if the cover rock lands on the top edge of the trap it will still fire cleanly.
