flushing a heating system with the ThroughFlush mains flushing kit.
I’ve finally got my hands on the Thorough flush kit to try out flushing a heating system with. This system uses just mains water to completely flush and clean a full central heating system and the results speak for themselves. I also connect it to the Adey MagnaCleanse unit to catch the magnitite that is flushed out the system.

Sold. Sold solddd. 😂. Mate, how is this free. Eternally greatful to all these amazing engineers on youtube sharing this ridiculously vast amount of knowledge. Half my old bosses where incredibly stingy with sharing knowledge and helping with development. I know it's a two way street, but them people just want a slave, not an apprentice. You're empowering people, educating, helping them to go on and make something of themselves. If i ever see you I'm buying you a drink!

Cheers for the vid, mate 👏🏻 I think most heating engineers might recommend a Spirotech air seperator should be part of the heating system to remove tiny bubbles of air which reacts with the water and the various metals which causes magnetite. No air should negate the need for chemicals. I think even Veissmann have it written in their boiler manual *not* to add inhibitor into the system! See you on the next one.
@Big_Old_Bondy

I like the idea of the thorough-flush, as sometimes, as we all know, a mains flush will be hard to beat, especially used in conjunction with a Magnacleanse. I looked at the thorough-flush, but decided to make a manifold myself for about £30 that does exactly the same job, granted it looks nowhere near as good as that, but it's simply a few components that all of us engineers work ith on a near daily basis. All the boiler manufactures want the system clean and inhibitor in the system now to keep the boiler under warranty, and most boilers have a ten year warranty, and it is a legal requirement now since June that when you have a boiler serviced you must check the water quality, all the test kits pick up wether there’s inhibitor in the system or not, did you give the customer the water quality results from you Adey test kit at the end of the job, which would say inhibitor is recommended? Personally after carrying out that job I would have dosed it with inhibitor.

Do you know what you can get for the price of a MagnaClense and a ThroughFlush…. A Powerflush machine 😂

@@MJTiffPlumbing Point is a proper power flush has similar to a thorough flush valve built in as standard. has mains pressure option and has a whopping big motor to force some power through as well as a whopping big tank to catch the debris. You can do it all better for the same price.... If you know how to use the valves under the boiler and are smart about where to add a extra drain point you can do what this does (minus the reverse flow) using the pipes on the wall and the filling loop so its not really such a great buy... Just add a drain point on the flow pipe under the boiler. Close both flow and return on boiler and let the filling loop run with the drain point on the flow pipe connected to a drain..... Think about it...

If it's a sealed system it doesn't need it (unless warranty related). Any corrosion that takes place (minimal), will stop once the oxygen in the water is converted to oxide. Open vent on the other hand its essential. I've never used inhibitor in my system which I installed 20 years ago and the water is crystal clear, with no sludge deposits in the rads. The Euros have got it right with VDI. Don't start me on filters 😂 money making racket

I think a lot of the chemical vs not comes down to ideal vs reality, ideally a heating system should be free of contamination and oxygen so corrosion in the system will be pretty low, but in reality it's just not the case. A lot of systems are gonna let oxygen in with small leaks and not everyone keeps on top of bleeding out rads, some people have pretty suspect water quality especially old tank fed systems and there's the hard water issue in a large portion of the country. Yeah ideally we shouldn't have to use the chemicals, but in reality unless it's a brand spanking new system with great water quality it's gonna need some help, especially when it comes to cheap landlords who don't wanna fix anything or elderly customers who had no idea a rad valve has been leaking for 5 years letting air into the system.

Hi mark are you aware of the extraction kit for valve bodies? Trying to push the magnetite through such a small gap in the valve body is difficult according to the thourough flush bloke
@MJTiffPlumbing
@MJTiffPlumbing Год назад
That’s why using a cleaner such as Adey MC1 works so well as it suspends the magnitite to get it out the system….. you can’t be going round changing every valve body on a flush…
