Hi Tom, yay, air compressor content😁👍 Ex-air compressor field service tech here, nowadays a self employed auto sparky/mechanic/electronics guy. Yes, you should use proper reciprocating piston compressor oil for the old girl. It is normally iso100 spec, it has anti-foaming properties and doesn't have detergents, it also won't vaporize or potentially combust, whereas car engine oil can, and it can also create carbon and gum up the reed valves and piston rings etc. Also, yep, they still call the sump a crankcase, since it houses a crankshaft and a piston like an engine🤣 I generally like to run the oil level slightly above the dot on the sight glass, but with a little air pocket still visible at the top of the sight glass so you can tell it's not way over full👍

did you ever get the boffal nas to work that you got from a friend? the reason is I have bought that had dist that need a syhstem

We use Amsoil air compressor oil in ours.

Mine is a pita to fill and leaks all over when I change the oil too.
