The amount of roots I got on this plant was pretty amazing. Air layering this Philodendron Birkin was a major air layering success and I'm so glad I was able to show you all what air layering can REALLY do.
Since this Philodendron was so rooted I decided to go ahead and make it into a repot with me as well. Now, I know my last video was a repot with me, but I decided to make this one into more of a chill, relaxing type of video.
About a month ago I air layered my Philodendron Birkin. This is a update to that video, so if you haven't seen my step by step process of how I got all these roots, watch it now here: • Air Layering Is The EA...
Let me know in the comments below: Do you like relaxing type videos? like vibey chill?

I love your videos! I got my first birkin today! Been studying plants for a couple months, joined a couple of fb groups and I’m obsessed. Also got a monstera deliciosa. I’ve been digging the Jaclyn alocasia but wanna keep these guys thriving first.

Aw thank you! Congrats on your Birkin!! Alocasias are a hit or miss when it comes to being easy to care for, so good call on trying out some easier plants first. ☺️🤍🌿

Just got my first real plant a few weeks ago, which is a Birkin. Being a brand new plant mom had to do some research to figure out what it was as there was no name tag. But because of her, I'm picking up a new hobby with plants. I just love it !! Wish me luck !! Also, one of my leaves has a couple yellow spots underneath, I'm hoping it wasn't getting enough light so I moved it, changed soil, roots all seem fine. Hoping things keep going well, she is popping out new leaves which is exciting. Question: how often should I fertilize ? Once a month ? I bought some miracle grow, hope this is a decent kind

Hi Erin!! Welcome to the plant community! That’s so awesome you’re getting into plants! And a Birkin is a really good plant to start off with. Usually with yellowing leaves it can just be adjusting to your home or those bottom leaves might just be dying off to promote new ones. The new leaves coming in is a good sign! I use miracle-gro as well and it’s worked fine for me. I usually fertilize in the spring and summer around 2-4 weeks with watering. In the fall and winter I slow down to 5-8 weeks. Good luck with your new Birkin baby! 👏🌿

Hi Amanda! 👋 Some of my water props still die off after transferring into a very light and airy soil. Any tips? I'm guessing the supplement you mentioned. 🤔 I'm still in the early learning process as I started early last year. Living in the tropics is a huge benefit for me, but still have a touch and go with so many plant types and their individual needs as well as the changing conditions🪴 🌿 Aloha for now !

Hey Michael! Are they rotting? Make sure all the roots are at least an inch long and plant them in a damp, not wet soil. I get this sometimes too. The superthrive can help. I watered the Birkin in this video just enough that I saw a little bit of water showing at the bottom. I also like to transfer my more delicate cuttings into moss as an in between stage. Sometimes certain plants have a hard time going from water to soil, since they grow slightly different roots. Hope that helps and you get better luck! ☺️🌿

@@BotanicalBrunette That's the best thing about your channel, you actually reply to your viewers--Super Cool. 😎 I have done these suggestions except for the Super Thrive. I had about really long roots on my Syngonium propagation, but it just seemed to fade away after awhile in soil. Sphagnum moss does seem to work fairly well, especially any of the aroidal type plants. I guess I'd like to have a 100% success rate, but continuing to learn and have mainly happy plants is still the best. Sincerely appreciate your help. Take care. Aloha!🪴

Is it odd for a birkin to have solid white leaves?

No it’s pretty common. It happens with variegated plants
