Lufthansa Group has secured approval from the EU to buy 41% of ITA Airways and formally integrate it into the group. Meanwhile, Airbus has completed its new assembly line for the upcoming A321XLR to boost production alongside efficiency across its business. Lastly, Korean Air says it won't lose slots in the United States as it rejected reports stating this following its ongoing Asiana Airlines merger.

I’m an Airbus pilot for a US airline that’s getting the XLR, I’m not looking forward to being in one for 8 hours, I might as well go fly the 777 or 787s that we have.

Tbh I always liked Asiana more than Korean air. And I never realized how much smaller Asiana really was. Korean air has 1.5x Asianas fleet and 30+ 777-300ers for long-haul and high-demand routes. Ig it’s obvious that they will eat up Asiana to have more market share. And they could be very competitive in the Asian market with a fleet of 210+ after the merger.

There is something brewing in India around a new airlines as Air Kerala.. Can you look into that and see how far it is and what can be expected from that.. Seems they are going to be operating 2 and T3 with ATR72-600 and then maybe get into other jets..

“…highly unlikely belly landing…”. Is it not a similar assumption about that MCAS on the B737 Max that lead to those crashes?
@tomstravels520
@tomstravels520 14 дней назад
No that’s completely different as that was due to a design flaw. For a belly landing to occur you would have to have a failure of the main landing gear system, the backup system and the gravity extension system
@flamboone9727
@flamboone9727 14 дней назад
@@tomstravels520 Assuming something nog likely to happen ( failure of the sensors) is what they decided not to fix the MCAS system and allow the delivery of those aircraft loaded with the initial version of that system. Just as the assumption you are also making about parts not likely to fail.
@tomstravels520
@tomstravels520 14 дней назад
@@flamboone9727 MCAS was a new technology, landing gear redundancy has been around for donkeys years and there has only ever been one major incident of a belly landing which was the LOT Boeing 767. And the emergency system only failed because a CB had tripped
@flamboone9727
@flamboone9727 12 дней назад
@@tomstravels520 was the assumption made about the MCAS system not because of “redundancy”? And yet it failed.
@tomstravels520
@tomstravels520 12 дней назад
@@flamboone9727 no it was assumed the pilot would know what to do because they assumed the pilot would treat it like a runway stabiliser event and therefore no training was required. Anyone with a brain could see there was no redundancy with MCAS in the first place

Lufthansa has been doing a lot of cost cutting that's having a negative impact on their mainline economy class product. This is proving to be highly profitable for them because passengers haven't been complaining much. Also, assuming that ITA will continue to operate independently, they should remain part of Skyteam, or they may end up switching to Star Alliance .
