The challenging times builds character. Sometimes we cry, we get scared and lose faith. You should cry till you laugh, always do your best, even when there is not a thank you and believe that your efforts are noticed and meaningful. Never give up! You guys are helping me on my journey, thank you.

You don't have to look back ONE day, you can do it now! Look at the outhouse you guys built, a great start! My wife and I have been working this piece of land for 20 years and it's still not done! As you age and things change you find more and more projects to do to make your life easier and better, just don't expect for it to ever be DONE. That is one of the wonderful things about making it yours, you build it, you work it, you bend it to your will and bend to it's will as well. The pool was a great idea! Having water close to the places where you need it most will help a LOT! It will remove a huge burden when you plant your own garden in the spring! Maybe your neighbor will help with a few seeds? I know it's extra work, but every mouthful of food you grow is food you don't have to buy. Your fall crops can go into the ground now...carrots, radishes, lettuce, cabbage, mustard greens, collard greens, broccoli, all great for late harvests. Some will even survive the winter and give you seeds for next years crop! Hang tough guys, you CAN DO THIS!!

Adam its a pity you do not have a length of pipe that you could connect to the generator and pump water to the plunge pool, saving time and exercise humping buckets by hand? And Laura how come the artistic ones always get the jobs of painting/varnishing on wood ?

Nice video! When you finish one of those stone towers near the water don't forget to dismantle them before you leave, because those are hazardous to the wild animals that go near the water to drink. They touch that and the rocks fell on the top of them.

Love your journey into this life style you have chosen and really enjoy the video's. From working on site and on farms I have learnt that when using a generator to put it as far away from the worksite as possible and run out an extension lead. No noisey motor or fumes right next to you. Enjoy the cooler evenings.

Looking great lots of work but you both are really working hard so everything will be perfect when your finally done, keep on keeping on it's going great.

Your portuguese sounds amazing. Once you learn more, you can easily fool anyone for being a local xD. Apart from it, what you described at the beginning is just what makes us human and specially on you too - being in a new country, starting a new life from scratch, being away from family, friends, etc. and having to work hard to build your dream - really gets to you. It becomes of mix of feelings. What you must always do is focus on the positive side of things. When you are feeling demotivated, angry or just simply tired, just think on anything positive and cry, "wash" your eyes as it becomes the best way to clear yourself from negativity. You guys are doing amazing and it`s a pleasure to follow your path. You chose the best country to live, so makes the best out of it :)

Hi Dan and Laura. Dan sometimes you crack me up with what you come out with. Laura you have such a calming voice and always appear so serene. Ooh I love my staple gun. My favorite toy I use it mainly putting Reed screening up and putting canvas on a frame ready to paint. I know that there are lots of restrictions but could you not grow a few veg in planters around your van. Things like tomatoes and peppers. The blackberries over here were very underwhelming too. Stone balancing is not something have come across before, but it did seem very therapeutic and the pool you got to swim in was stunning. I never had children but I would be so proud of you if I was your mam. Keep your chin up lovely. Well done on all your hard work. Now to be cheeky can we have a van tour please. X

We just take our sawzall and cut between the slats and cut through the nails quick and easy and no broken boards... sure beats trying to pull all them nails... A hack saw will also work we go through a stack of 20 palets quickly...

Love your videos! I prune the fruiting spurs of grapes coming off of the arms to 2 buds. There is variation of pruning for different varieties so I would get consultation about recommendations for the varieties you have. Pruning and tying them will increase health and productivity and value of the fruit. Best wishes.

I'm a can do guy, I never say I can't so my skill set is alot, it helped me in my life alot, and my hobbys is alot. Wants you have a opened mindset to anything, nothing is imposible. Another lovely video. I have a couple of constructive criticisms so no one gets hurt. Have you considered the weight of the water pushing against the pallets and screws? A cube of water weighs a ton, add you two and it may burst open. Once the water is in it will attract algae unless its filtered or chemicals are added. Sorry to be a party pooper because it looks lovely! Bee and Theos IBC tank with the top but off was maybe the way to go as its thick plastic and caged to contain the weight of the water.

Oh bless that tarp won’t remain waterproof for long, as it’s a weaved product. When you need to replace it, use black builders plastic, the stuff they use as a damp proofing course. It’s a shame that a lot of RU-vidrs don’t explain their intended projects well before they start, as there are a lot of wiser people than me that could advise, and avoid costly or time consuming work, that isn’t the best solution.

The "mistake" you described at 23:45 I think was a "happy accident", to be honest. Of course it's just a personal taste, but I like that final look much more than a normal paint coat.

Dan do you have what is called a flat bar (it’s a bar with nail pulling claws on both ends and one end has a 90 degree bend on it that is what I use here in Louisiana USA to disassemble pallets
