The Christmas Village is a german concept. My Gramma Kettel had an extensive Putz house collection of these that actually came from Germany…yes this is my heritage. Today folks are getting into Putz houses again making them from cardboard and covering them with vintage Christmas cards. That score brought back a lot of memories from my father’s childhood stories. I only ever saw Grammas collection in black and white photos so when I see people thrifting them I sit up and take notice. Sadly, my father is no longer with us or I’d be showing him this video! The one bird is in fact a Sandhill crane and they are brown in color usually heard before seen in the farmers grain fields. And those 2 birds look like they have pheasant feathers for tails. I tried several times to reverse back to see but just could not get a good enough view from your angles. The silver pheasants would also have interested my father for he was an avid pheasant hunter. I hope I’m not sharing things you already know but your scores were of great interest to me today from a personal standpoint. It’s so exciting to see Chris collecting his corner bar decor. I think if he keeps having this kind of luck the corner bar will be expanding out…or into the bathroom🤭! Thanks for dusting off some really special memories for me. One thing I do want to tell you Yvonne is every time you breathe deep I just know something special is coming up and you are gonna be oohing and aching, sucking us in for a closer look ourselves. Almost like being right there with you. Thank you so much for sharing with us, for me it’s priceless because I could never stand long enough to experience an auction with my back issues so these visits are some of my absolute favorites! So keep working towards full recovery for I’d miss these visits more than I could ever convey!!!:):):)

The bird you were questioning whether it was a heron or a crane was a crane. Herons’ necks are shaped a little like a sink trap at the base. They curve down, and then curve back up. If Hobby Lobby doesn’t have the frame or size you need, there is a frame shop in Mason, Wheaton’s, that does great work, and they are very reasonable on prices. They are about an hour away from my house, but it’s worth the drive!

I’m so happy for Chris. Do you see how excited he got? I was thinking that you know they have those tiny little lights that are single. You could mount them on there wheels on the two wheels face the inside and then maybe over on the side of a couple horses on the other one just tiny, tiny, tiny one and paint them black or a blend that you stick them on, and then you get control. The battery operated control that you can turn on mine from anywhere in the area that would just light individual lights white nighttime lights like blue and green stuff like that. The Budweiser carousel is beautiful! I remember seeing one when I was 4 or 5. Back in the day when kids could go into a bar with their parents, before the evening adult time. The one I remember was lit, and as a kid I was fascinated by it!

I get things wherever garage sales, auctions, antique shops, thrift stores you name it. In fact this last weekend I scored a longaberger basket for $1 at a community garage sale! One I didn't have!! Plus other goodies I'll use for crafting. We don't have many auctions or thrift stores in our area. So the girls and I are planning a trip to Michigan in a couple weeks. Have been noting the shops you mentioned as places to go. Thank you for that. 😁

I scored at a garage sale this week. I have collected pictures of children for 50 years. Found one with a one dollar price tag on it. I knew it was something good. Antique metal frame made in Italy. Found a few online for $150 - $300 😁

The christmas village houses are putz houses from the 1920,30,40. I proudly inherited my mother's from 1930s.

I had one of the carousel lights. I sent you a pm a little while back wirh a little video of mine. I paid $200 and sold it a few months ago for $800.
