I mean you can only do so much to style a truck and it looks similar to a tacoma in the sense that it doesnt look like a ranger or a colorado just has that japanese truck look to it. the headlights almost looks like Z lights very sporty.

I got an army green metallic pro 4x about three weeks ago and am absolutely loving it!you guys didn't touch on the fuel economy which is understandable considering it is a truck but with the highway driving I do I regularly get it in the mid 9's to low 10's. That is of course L/100km. Your guys content is awesome! Keep up the great work!!
i believe that is about 26 miles per gallon according to google unit convert. quite impressive actually, my ‘16 SV fronty gets about 17 hwy, 15 city & 14 combined. tempting to upgrade but 😬
I got a Boulder grey pro-X. I love the truck but let’s say I have had bad luck with it so far/ something was loose under the hood they had to tighten it and do a realignment and now I’m waiting on a whole new camera operating system. Rear and aerial camera just stopped working. 🤦🏻♂️
@@NismoPro780 to bad to hear about your issues! The only thing I've noticed, and I'm not 100% sure it's a problem with the truck or just my car ocd kicking in but I feel like sometime the steering wheel doesn't sit perfectly on centre when on the highway. I know this can be caused by other road and outside conditions so again not sure its truck related. Might get the dealer to check when I have it in for its first service just to be safe. I was able to find a soft tri fold tonneau cover on Amazon though for a relatively good price that fit, so that definitely helps with the functionality of the vehicle!
Just bought a '22 Frontier SV 4x4 and I love it. It handles well (mine is firmer than Pro4x suspension) and is super quiet and well dampened. I love the hydraulic power steering and general ergonomics/features because it's thoroughly modern yet still truck-like and not gimmicky in any way. Also 3.8 V6/9 spd is a great combo, powerful and smooth. Definitely recommend driving one if you're in the market.
@@oni-one574 Nope. I haven't had any issues, the safety stuff is non-invasive. The lane departure warning is the first thing I turned off and it stays off permanently. Only beeps is when someone is in my blind spot and I turn on my turn signal, or if someone brakes hard in front of me (brakes never actually intervened yet). Definitely nothing defective or overbearing, it's really like driving an older truck most of the time with the added peace of mind that comes with the suite of safety tech.
Tomorrow, the new Ford Ranger debuts. Designed by Aussies. We probably won't get it, though it's going to be marketed as a global truck. I look forward to seeing it.
They’ll probably restyle it to fit “Murican” tastes most likely more chrome, semi truck-like grille, and red turn signals but ride on the same platform.
Just revealed a short while ago … interior is class leading by a huge margin. The exterior is also better than the Frontier - subjective of course, but will absolutely be a success when introduced in North America in 2023.
I think Nissan knocked this truck out of the park in everything but the camera systems. I mean, at least it has a lot of cameras. At least they can update it throughout its almost 25-year lifespan (c'mon Nissan, update your trucks more often).
We almost bought a used 2018 Titan, but the infotainment/camera quality/no AA/Carplay killed it and we got a 2017 F150 instead. Was decent truck to drive, but the tech is aging badly. We are both millenials and needed a truck and lack of good tech just kills deals for us honestly. Would never again consider a vehicle without AA/Carplay.
@@alvinsimba734 it did. But I use my infotainment for more than just listening to music which can be done via Bluetooth. I want Maps etc and we weren't about to buy a truck we didn't absolutely love and then have to swap out infotainment. If I don't have to, I dont want to have to mount my phone on the dash.

I'm on my 2nd current gen Frontier and I absolute love this platform. It's a compact but very capable and reliable truck. I'm planning on ordering a 2022 Pro4x early next year. I know exactly what options/accessories I'm getting, but I'm still trying to decide which color to get. I plan keeping this truck for at least a decade (roughly 200,000 miles) so I want to make sure I love the color since I have to look at it everyday for years. I've narrowed it down to either tactical green, although it is a stupid name, or boulder grey. I like them both, but both are copies of Tacoma colors which bothers me a little. Great review! Maybe the stars on your hat represents the original 13 colonies?
@D LG Boulder Grey type colour is popular with a ton of other makes and models. On cars, trucks and suv's... Tacoma doesn't even offer it anymore! If you want a timeless colour, I'd go for white. Boulder grey and tactical green are trendy type colours. I do love the grey though.
I’ve had my 2022 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X for two months, so far and I really like the truck. It was between this and the Tacoma, but the Toyota was so uncomfortable that I couldn’t fathom spending that much on a truck that was so objectively far behind the new Frontier.
See my above comments I’ve had bad luck with my new one so far: I wanted to give Nissan a try because I’ve had 2 tacomas myself. And figured this would be the time to do it/ I got the pro-x 4x2 equivalent to the TrD pro 4x2. The frontier version doesn’t come with rear diff on the 4x2’s like the taco does!
I bought a 2020 tacoma and hated it..the plastic bed vibrated in the wind,i got new leafs,a shin replaced by the dealer and new drums and it still shuddered all the tine..i was afraid to brake.had 6000 miles on it and i was the first owner ...the tranny programming was horrible ..if u wanted any pick up itd hesitate and then take off .between 40-60mph id get a annoying vibration and sound while driving at low throttle input in traffic...i wanted to love that truck but holy shit i shoulsnt of had to deal with all that...on tacoma world a bunch of people had the same issues...i founf a few 2019 tsbs that might of been some of my issues but 4 dealers refused to look into it bc hey mines a 2020 .even tho they admitted plenty of people had the same issues...they said its a truck youll get used to it 😂 screw that and screw toyota .worst experience ive had with a vehicle. Luckily I got the truck paid off and a extra 7500 when trading it in on the 22 frontier...so much better..even the seats .the tacoma seats were real weird .felt like my legs were too far infront of me and the seat needed to be angled differently ...the frontier is quiet ,tranny programmed great! Plenty of pick up,bed doesnt vibrate in the wind and the hydraulic body mounts are a nicr addition...100k bunper to bunper warranty and gap insurance on a new truck out the door under 30k
I thinks it absolutely ridiculous that a 2022 truck doesn't have a telescopic steering wheel but I can over look it because it has a super low lease payment compared to a Tacoma.
Great trucks,I love Nissan, I have a 2013 it has 280,000 miles It keeps running great, I remember when I first got it people would tell me it wasn't a good truck that I should've gotten a toyota,will upgrade to this new Nissan
I used to have a wrangler and i swore if they released a pickup i would buy it. After a slew of issues i don't know if i could justify a gladiator. I have test driven all the trucks in the midsize segment and this and the ranger impressed me the most power wise. interested to see how they hold up over the years before i consider getting one. great review!
Maybe. But that’s part of the reason the Frontier-was a bargain price wise. Let’s face it, at even money most would buy the Tacoma. But the Frontier was the better value, if not necessarily the better truck

Nice truck. However for my purposes I think I would prefer a Honda Ridgeline. Cue outraged replies in all caps: "THAT'S NOT A TRUCK!" " "AAAAHHHHH!". "AAAAHHHHHHH!"
Jokes aside, I don’t think the ridgeline has done particularly well from a durability standpoint. It works apiece that’s Honda for all it’s success never put a beefed up transmission onto their minivans and suv and consequently are a weak link. Something to check into Cheers
You guys didn't mention the missing telescoping steering wheel, a basic feature that should be standard on every new vehicle, along with LED headlights. I love this new Frontier and plan on purchasing a Pro4x next year, but you can't even get LEDs on the SV long bed which is crazy.
@@mabelpup8502 I can't even believe I'm responding to such a ridiculous comment, but what if you have long legs? Do you want you knees to be jammed up against the dashboard just so you can reach the wheel? I certainly don't. The entire point of more adjustability is to be able to accommodate ALL body types in comfort, which isn't too much to ask in a vehicle that is this expensive.
With this new Frontier and 400ZX, Nissan is finally getting their mojo back and building something interesting & good. Now if Nissan would offer the Cummings 2.8 Turbo Diesel in the Frontier, I’d trade in my new Tacoma.
They did well with the info screen size and hard buttons, props! Too many vehicles with obnoxious and distracting touch screens which end up being a safety issue on the road. Price tag on this is still too much, and boy did it look like it was going to roll over in that first turn. Ranger may not yet be updated as nicely but performance-wise I stick with it over this 100%
Ranger Tremor is still more expensive than this with less features and less power and less tow capability pound for pound. Turbo charged engines are way less reliable.
The Frontier platform didn’t run from 97 until 2021. They Frontier used a beefed up version of the previous Hardbody platform from 98 until 04, and got a new platform in 05 that the new Frontier that you’re reviewing is still riding on a (somewhat modified, but it’s the same platform) as the 05-21 frame. Also, not a CVT?! Who puts a CVT in a midsize or larger body on frame pickup?! Nobody. The only “pickup” that runs a CVT is the hybrid Maverick, which apparently is unavailable anyways, since Ford wants to be able to “advertise” a pickup under 20k but doesn’t actually want to have to build or sell it, as the AWD 2.0 Ecoboost variants are far more profitable.
