A bough bed is a comfortable way to sleep in the outdoors any time of year without needing a mattress. In this video I show how to do one in the winter on the snow. I Ike to use my Osni Poncho Liner snapped to my poncho. It’s kind of a modern materials take on the old cowboy bed roll. The boughs provide a soft mattress and insulation from the ground.
A note about making bough beds, do not do this in a campground or in an area popular with campers. The process prunes some of the boughs on trees, unless in an actual survival situation, I harvest from multiple trees. Also when done I stack up the bedding in a way less visible and may provide shelter for some critter.
