Thanks for the comment. I have a bandsaw and a few videos of things I've done to it. I built this shooting board to clean up the ends of six foot long pieces (box beam mantle), so I'm not sure my bandsaw could do that. However, on the rip cuts (long edges) I never considered it, as the bandsaw is tall and narrow (tiny table). I'd have to move it to the center of my shop and build infeed and outfeed support, or perhaps a cradle to carry the piece I'm cutting (or all of that). Still, it may be worth it, depending on the project. My table saw was not so hot making these cuts. Thanks for the idea. As for the shooting board; I can cut smaller pieces quite well with the table saw or chop saw so the shooting board would be used like that for a 90 degree cut; meaning you'd use it to sneak up on a very precise fit. I'll post my videos on the box beam mantle soon, so keep your eyes out for that. I used my chop saw to cut the 45's on the long pieces, and screwed up on the bottom piece of the boxbeam. I had to build and use the shooting board to get it into shape for a decent glue up. Like I said, thanks for the idea. I know Izzy Swan likes to build fancy jigs and cradles and has done some pretty nice things with his bandsaw. Cheers.
