Great video April. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to be taking the PL-200 Microsoft Power Platform Certification and this is one of the areas listed to prep in. Thanks :-)
Thanks so much! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for explaining so clearly. 👏 Would you be able to also do a video on handling SharePoint multi-select Choice columns in Power Apps using checkbox controls? (I honestly can't believe it's still not natively supported, despite every other MS platform supporting it). I've tried so many alternatives from the official blog and forums with no luck. 😔
Hey Justin, Sure I could add that to my list. I'm curious what you're trying to do with the checkboxes though. There are two different controls in Power Apps that enable you to have multi-select values natively - Combo Box and List Box. Have you looked into either of those?
@@AprilDunnam I've tried both those options, but from a UX perspective, it doesn't meet the client's requirements and it's not a consistent experience with the rest of Microsoft's services. SharePoint (our data source), InfoPath, Dynamics, Microsoft Forms, etc. all use checkboxes. A member from the Power Apps team wrote a blog post at the link below with a workaround because of the complaints.. but that was as long time ago and to this day it's still not natively supported. I've seen a few better workarounds that are as but cumbersome, so would love to see what you come up with.☺️ powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/multivaluedchoicesinforms/
Thats a great video April ! . Really helpful. Could you please throw some light on options available if we want to add the app incrementally across various countries. Is it possible to add the App to Teams for a particular distribution list of the company ( e.g. country wise distribution list).
Hey April - thanks for the great video - so helpful! What is the path for updating tenant-(teams)deployed apps? Do they appear separately at make.powerapps.com or....do you have to delete and redeploy or....? Thank you again!
Hey Bill - The apps that you deploy to Teams will still be managed in the Power Apps portal (make.powerapps.com). You don't have to worry about-redeploying to Teams once you save and publish your changes because it is essentially just iframing the Power Apps into Teams autonomically for you.
Hi April, thank you for a great video on PowerApps in Teams. Really cool stuff. Have you experienced issues with date filter behaviours working different in the Teams environment to PowerApps or web browser space? I find it difficult to get the conversion from US to Australia right
Hi April, I am trying to deploy a newly developed power app to teams. I watched your video and one option is to download the zip file and upload it in the teams' admin center so that all employees can see that as an app in teams. Now my question is each time when there is a change in the app do I need to upload again? is there any way I can use the power app link to show that in teams?
Great tutorial April! Thank You. Flow notification within teams still takes you to powerapps portal. Is there a way it shows right inside pinned app within teams?
Hey Aman, So if I'm understanding correctly you have a link to a Power Apps via Flow and you want that to open the Power App which is embedded in Teams rather than in the Power Apps portal? It should be as simple as changing the link in your Flow. Just open Teams in the Browser, go to your Power App which is embedded, copy that URL and use that in your Flow instead.
really helpful, thank you, i love it. can you tell us which is the licensing minimun required per user to have teams and a powerwerapps with CDS capabilities, please?
Hey David, Microsoft Teams is included in most Office 365 Plans (Business Essentials, Premium, the E-Level SKUs, EDU SKUs, etc). So no additional licensing should be required from the Teams side. For a Power App that uses CDS you will need to choose either the Per User/Per App/Per Month Licensing which is $10/per app/per user/per month. Or there's a straight per user license which allows access to an unlimited # of apps for $40/user/month
Hello April Dunnam, Nice video. When you add this app to team, is it only available to people in your organization or the whole world and do you have any idea how I could implement my powerapps to be used by external users without having to grant them permissions more like a custom application.
Good question. You'll have to make sure you share the Power App with the users that you want to have access. You can share Power Apps with external users if you have Azure AD B2B set up. The guest user would either need to have a Power Apps license assigned by you in your tenant or they can use a license that they have in their organizations tenant. You can find more on how to share to external users here: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/share-app Another option is Power Apps Portals. This enables you to create public facing apps that guest users can access: powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/portals/ Hope that answers your question!
Hi April, thank you for this very helpful video. I recently piloted AgilePolly in MS Teams. Would love if you could do some videos on how we can build apps with a similar experience, namely people receiving notifications via MS Teams to respond to something, a report and corresponding notification being generated, etc. In this video, I noticed a reference to an onboarding video. Not sure if it is aimed at those setting up for the new person or for the new hire. If the former, perhaps that would be a good use case for Integration in Teams?
Hi Teresa, I haven't looked into AgilePolly but I'll do some research on it. The Onboarding app I mention is intended for the new hire to help guide them through the completion of certain onboarding tasks. It's actually one of the Power Apps templates available. I definitely want to do more videos on Teams integration in Power Apps so will add this to my list of things to make videos on. Thanks for the feedback!
Edwin Yap That’s nothing that a responsive design can’t fix. Antionette just demoed how to make responsive apps on the PowerAddicts call Tuesday so I would definitely encourage you to search for PowerAddicts on RU-vid and check it out
Bummer. That probably means that your org has custom apps for Teams blocked for your account. It's a setting that you activate in the Teams Admin Center: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-custom-app-policies-and-settings
Unfortunately right now there isn't a way to maintain the state. With tabs in Teams the content isn't kept in memory so it's reloaded each time you navigate away and back.
@@AprilDunnam Not only as tabs, even when it is an App running from the side barwe can't maintain the state. Do you know if MS is doing anything about it? Is there anyway atleast to warn the users b4 they stray away?
In the admin portal we need to allow users the rights to create apps in Teams. Do you know if we also have to enable that right for the members of the team?
@@AprilDunnam hi April, thank you for replying. in referring to PowerApps for Teams permissions in the admin center! Not the app permissions the developer creates. We are reluctant to turn it on globally. Our users would max out the number of environments in a heartbeat.
Hey Erica - I actually just made a video on the Time Away app and in the video description I included a link to download the app. Hope you find it helpful. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S-YUearXrBA.html&lc=UgwKiTBmlY-GIb3tKM54AaABAg
Hey there. Sorry for the delayed response. That Get Started app is the Microsoft "Learning Pathways" solution which you can find more details about here: techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/driving-adoption-blog/microsoft-365-learning-pathways-your-customizable-training/ba-p/638479
Hi Patrick - There's a built in Notify() function in Power Apps which will show a banner message at the top so that would probably be easiest to use. You could then prompt the Notify() when someone creates or updates a record in your app
@@blutkraehe_official Oh ok sorry I misunderstood. The only way I can think of is to leverage Power Automate to kick off a flow on change for the SP list and then Post an Adaptive Card to a Microsoft teams chat to surface up a notification
