Tracing with a pen will leave it a couple to a few millimetres too big (dependant on pen). Most locks are cheap anyways so it wouldn't matter, but any lock that's worth this much effort probably has a more sophisticated mechanism to prevent key copying
@@VeryTastySoup87 You think so? The main purpose of the key is to lift the pins in the lock to the right position so the shearline is continuously free. Those pins aren't so heavily springloaded that the metal will bend... The rotation of the cylinder can be done with other implements like a hairpin for example.
I like how he uses the Kew Gardens 50p coin (rarest collectable 50p in the world) as the scale coin. I have 48 different collectable 50p coins, but that is the only one I want more than any other
Once you have the pins in place with the "key" you can use a something else to twist the barrel. Like a flat head screwdriver. Most locks are more of a deterrent then anything. 30 years ago I knew a kid who could open a padlock with a hairpin in a few seconds. They still use basically the same lock design.
You wouldn't even get it in the lock, the original like nearly all keys of this type has a channel that runs the length of the key that corresponds to projection on the face of the lock
Why are you showing people this? If they need copies of keys they can just go to a locksmith or something. That is dangerous and people can cut themselves.
@@J.o.s.h.u.a. lol I strongly doubt YOU could do anything with that flimsy key enter someone else or even your house metal will just twist in your hands
Hey Dave, I just want to tell you something just know I have been watching you since I was a very little kid and I’ve been trying to find you for a very long time and at first when I found you I didn’t know it was you and I started roasting your videos but then I figured out what was you honestly alarm for trying to say is thank you for your childhood
Hopefully I don't have to explain that THIS ISNT HOW KEYS WORK(edit: just read the comments and apparently I actually do need to explain, keys have a depth to them. They have grooves in their depth, not just on the top, this makes it so most keys won't even fit a lock if they aren't the right key, nevermind unlock it. You would never be able to recreate this like this. Also it would get destroyed before you do anything with it. Wow can't believe I had to explain that.)
