Did you consider staggering the shorter boards in the initial glue-up, instead of joining the two short sections end-to-end? It would be a lot stronger.

Nice build. I would be very interested to know how you drilled the dog holes, both in terms of getting a dead accurate layout, and drilling them dead vertical 👍

Yeah sorry I didn’t include that in the build. The layout I just made sure the dog holes were spaced apart less than the total width of my the tail vice. This makes sure you can apply pressure to the piece no matter what size of piece you are working on. To get the holes dead vertical… well… I didn’t. I tried but some are a little off, and I don’t think you should worry about it too much. Even with them slightly off, they create plenty of holding pressure for the dog holes. I just used a forstner bit with my drill gun and carpenters square to keep me as straight as I could. Thanks!

Looks very similar to what I am about to build for myself!!!! I need to figure out how I'm going to attach the top to the legs though. I won't be using a mortise, as my skills in that area are pretty bleak to say the least. I'm thinking of using dowels.

thats how I would do it. But if you never try you'll never learn. To be honest my mortise weren't very good, hence the reason I had to fill them in with epoxy. It's a learning process.
