I'm currently a game design student who is getting ready to enter the capstone sequence in my degree program and this is really helpful and easy to understand. This will help me with my game demo that I will be creating over the next four months before I graduate in late October. Thank you for taking the time to publish a video on this topic.
If we place a obstacles like fire can we apply trigger box for that fire will that work ? If player get contact with fire will it come as game over restart?
hello brilliant content btw!!! ur short vids about the different nodes like "what is Do N" and things like that are brilliant. I wonder if you could do a vid request, i want to make a box collision that displays random text whenever you walk on to it. but when you come away from it the message leaves the screen. so an example would be if you just walked up to an AI and he says random comments. thanks
hello mate , glad you like them . yeah actually not a bad idea for a video , I will make one as soon as possible . but the title might be about arrays or something for SEO reasons, so be careful not to miss it !
@@UnrealART yh i liked the vids about the random lights. once you know what certain nodes do you can apply them to all sorts of things, its been 3 weeks now learning unreal and im starting to get used to the language used and stuff like that. BTW do you know anything about world leaderboards? and is a world leaderboard plausible for my first game or is it more advanced? thanks anyway.
@@Jax1Million now that you are here let me ask you a question ! :)) When it comes to tutorials, which do you prefer: Voice with a background music or just a voice?
@@UnrealART I was thinking about this myself actually, I dont mean to kiss ur butt, lol butt ur background music is quite relaxing, maybe drop it -2 or 3 db, but yh the music is not distracting at all.
you can remove the casting and use on actor begin overlap and trigger the event when any actor overlaps with it so it won't work only with the character that you are casting to.
I am trying to do something similar when my character is killed by ai or falls etc. the game over sign pops up with restart or quit. How would I implement based on the condition of the character instead of trigger box ?
you need to make some adjustments in your code. for your restart button you need to open different levels based on the level you are playing. there are a lot of ways to do that. for instance , you can use a string variable and set and get it based on the current level
thanks, yeah you can implement it in 2d games as well. However, there may be some other methods for 2d projects as well . It depends on how you set up your project
does it give input when you click it ? you can use a print string to see if it's working. if this is not the problem, the function you have for the button must be the problem.
