There is obviously a LOT of topics to cover in arch-vis in under 2 hours, so I've tried to give a basic introduction to all of these topics. There is definitely multiple ways of doing everything, and you may prefer another way, but hopefully I've given a good starting point for each point.
Arch-vis requires your own exploration to find what works for you :)
If anything needs clearing up in more detail I'll do another tutorial. Especially over the Post Production side of things, that was a bit difficult to explain in such a short time.

28:38 For those using 3.0, the default Lens Unit is set to Millimeters, with the setting above it displayed as "Focal Length." Changing the Lens Unit to "Field of View" changes the setting above it to "Field of View," which can then be set to 70 (or whatever number you're using). This tripped me up at first, which threw my camera perspective off.

Kris, the white ceiling spot light around 59:53 doesn't track with the empty. The black one does, but not the white one. If you add one and press Numpad fwd slash ( / ) to isolate them, test one and then the other and you'll see what I mean. For now I'm just going to add the black ones and then change the color to white. Also, I bought the stucco/plaster texture you mentioned, but it does not come with a .blend file, so the iMeshh Asset Manager does not recognize it (nor does the new 3.0 Asset Browser, which also requires a .blend file and a marked asset). I'll try to just replicate your settings.)

43:30 When you change light power - select both and hold Alt down while you make the adjustment. Then both (or all....) also change. Works for most sliders. Even if the lights are at different strengths they adjust - to their own levels. My new favorite shortcut in Blender...

@charlesturner57 2 года назад
Glad you like the assets! I think saying they're cheap is based upon if broken down the assets are $0.09 each, they'd normally be $5-7 each on other platforms. So you're 100% right, some people may feel $99 isn't cheap, but if look at from the point of view it would cost you $5000-7000 on other platforms to build up the same asset library - the $99 would seem cheap

@@charlesturner57 I know, they are extremely affordable. I have an active subscription and will definitely subscribe next year again. What I meant is that, unfortunately, some people might link the word cheap with that of a low quality product and iMeshh products are not. FYI, on the camera angle. Architectural photographers will use what they call a TILT SHIFT camera. You can point the camera Up or Down but it will still keep the vertical lines vertical. You can do this in Blender too, but I forgot the name. Check it out... Great tutorial.
@imeshh
@imeshh 2 года назад
Totally! Although in a lot of cases you can remove a lot of the keystoning using the lens correction techniques in Photoshop/Lightroom. Of course tilt shift lens do a lot of the heavy lifting for you, and maybe results look a bit better but..... That is a lot to talk about in an already 1 hour 30 video about doing it digitally in Blender anyway haha Also, tilt shift blur effects for making large scenes look miniature are one of my most favourite photography techniques ever! Edit: oh and sorry i forgot to mention, you can shift the angle in Blender on the x and y axis if you need to (most useful on exteriors)

I do ArchVis professionally as well and I could not imagine trying to build a remodel design for a client without having extremely accurate "less than half an inch of error" layout plans first. Especially if I were going to deliver the design to a contractor because they're going to want a layout with exact measurments for things like cabinets, countertops, sink cutouts, windows, floor/door/window trim, etc... I personally go to the client's home and measure everything with a tape measure and my iPad so I can't blame anyone but myself.
@imeshh
@imeshh 2 года назад
Yeah its basically totally dependant on the type of work that you do. Often clients will just send you the floor plan and expect you to make the nicest room possible, but its not important if its 100% correct as long as it sells the house. Some clients don't even care if you bend the truth a little bit! Whereas your clients sound like they need specifics for use in layouts afterwards. So that makes sense how you do it :)
@skjoldgames
@skjoldgames 2 года назад
@@imeshh thanks, it sounds like you've had a multitude of different clients. I guess I'm in more of a niche sector. It was a real pleasure watching how you approach your design, thanks for the video.

I love your videos! for you, someone who wants to become relevant pro at archviz should use 3DsMax and corona or blender and cycles ? (sorry my English, I used Google translator)
@imeshh
@imeshh 3 года назад
I think the most important thing to start with is learning the basics for Arch-vis. It doesn't matter if you use 3ds, Blender, C4D or which renderer. As long as you can learn how Arch-vis works, you can then translate these over to other software if you need to. Some studios would use Vray and 3DS, some use Blender and if you can find clients who like this then it doesn't matter. However, Corona for 3DS is often regarded as the "best" and i personally like it because I think it gets the best results the quickest. But if you have Blender for now, use it because its free until you're ready to explore other options If you need me to explain anything in a different way so the translator works better, then do let me know :)

Hi! I just came across this channel today. I’m an architectural assistant in London, currently using Revit for most of my daily tasks. However, I’m also really interested in Archiviz in my spare time. Is there any way you could maybe do a video on how to do an external render, with vegetation and such? I essentially want to see the capabilities of blender in that regard. I mainly see corona + 3ds max used for professional renders, but as a hobbyist myself in archiviz, I would love to see what you can achieve in blender. (Maybe bring in a sketchup/rhino/revit model into blender, and set up an external image for that?) great content by the way, keep it up!! :) ps. If you could do a winter scene, that would be amazing, but no pressure:D

Hello iMeshh, your work is really great and I love it. I need your help though. I use Rhino to create my designs and save as an obj or 3ds file. But when I open these files on Blender to add materials, the objects only emit the colour of the material applied but not the details/print of the material (e.g printed fabrics or wooden materials). What do I do?
@imeshh
@imeshh Год назад
Hey! Do you know if the object is unwrapped? If you select the object and go into edit mode and select all then then press U and click smart uv unwrap, does that then work? If so, it may look good but you may need to unwrap more precisely to get it looking totally correct :)

How do you know when adding textures that they are the right scale. Do you just have to eyeball it? Is something I find hard for things like paint wall bump texture.
@imeshh
@imeshh 3 года назад
A ton of places which you can get textures, they don't write the dimensions, or they didn't in the past so I've just got so used to doing it by eye. Like knowing how big wood grain usually is, how big are scratches etc, that i don't really think about it now. I might start thinking up some video ideas to explain how to size textures up which are of unknown dimensions :)
@imeshh
@imeshh 3 года назад
But for wall textures, in general you want them to be very small. On real walls the bump is almost invisible until you go close, so that is what I was aiming for. Sorry i didn't get time to explain :(
@kukedigabor4672
@kukedigabor4672 2 года назад
Hi! Is there a way to keep very fine details in Blender, like the hair of pampa grass or the beads on the strings of vertical blinds? Everything is fine in my scene, but the denoiser kills these, and if i raise the number of samples extremely (2000 or so) these are still pixelated even if nothing else is noisy any more.
@imeshh
@imeshh 2 года назад
The denoiser is for sure a problem. The newer denoisers such as open image denoise 1.4 does a better job at keeping those details. But unfortunately interior scenes do require a lot of samples, just make sure that you are using adaptive sampling at least. But don't be surprised if renders can take an hour or 2+ for a very high quality 4k image. You can also play with the light bounces and render settings to speed up render time so 2000 samples+ isn't such a big deal
@kukedigabor4672
@kukedigabor4672 2 года назад
@@imeshh 2 hour+ rendertime is not a problem, the problem is that even then the result is still blurry or pixelated. I'm coming from Max and V-ray, and a 1-hour render has no problem keeping these details. That's why it is surprising for me and was looking for the "switch" :).

It really depends on a number of factors. Is this part of a larger project or are you designing this as part of an agency because agencies usually charge more. If you're freelance and this is a one off single room project then try and charge based on how many days work it would be for you. It could be about 1 days work so it would be cool to find out the average daily rate for your country and how much experience you have. This could be anywhere between 250EUR to 600EUR (although i wouldn't charge 600 for this haha. I'd probably put in a lot more work for that 😂)

Yeah the 3ds library was actually a huge motivation for us. Blender needs at least some good models! I'd love to be able to get some of those killer 3D models over to Blender. Maybe one day the Blender library will be as large :/
