For mids(boxiness) and nasal-sounding frequencies, try to listen for the worse-sounding frequency from the range of 350hz-3khz to make a cut(s). You want to boost a node to 10 decibels and make the bandwidth(thiccness of the band) thin and then reduce the frequency. With this try to hear out the worst range in the two sound profiles for your voice specifically since we don't share the same body. For warmth and bass, you can increase the level from 70-250hz. Anything lower just increases any rumbles in your voice and your environment. Both the Wave and Dx mics are really clear, so you really don't need a presence boost unless you feel like it's lacking, and if so add a 1-3 dB increase from 3-8k, just listen for the best frequency and bandwidth.
An interesting stream, thanks. I've watched several streams about this product, all of them are pretty positive with the 'out of the box' sound, and equally positive once it has been tweaked.
Wave Link app only supports other newer devices like the Stream Deck +, Wave 3 mic, Wave XLR, and even the Wave 1.. not the Wave XD, unless I have any of the other devices that isn't a mic, I can't even use this software.
Good video. Which PC case is that on your left side? If I put my case with glass window on my desk I can put it only on my right because the glass is on the left. If I put it like you I have the controll buttons on the back.
@@MurrayFrost yes let me know, appreciate that. I am trying to lead a shift into “Mac” streamers. So far I’ve used elgato wave XLR, HDX (VRR capture), Streamdeck to prove that Mac streaming is possible (for next Gen console gamers). Thx for all that you do Murray!
Why did you boost your voice at 36hz? No human voice goes so deep. It will only boost rumble and noise from your desk! No human voice and no sibilance goes up to 18khz, so i really do not understand what you are reducing up there. Male voices sibilance range in 3kHz to 6kHz while female voice's typically range in 6kHz - 8kHz. The voiced speech of a typical adult male will have a fundamental frequency from 85Hz to 15.5 kHz, and that of a typical adult female from 165Hz to 25.5 kHz. Sorry Mate, but you should have had a look into Wikipedia before uploading this video! Oh, and one more thing: Elgato Wave DX's frequency range goes only from 50-15.000 Hz. ( And i shouldn't write long text on a phone..so many mistakes!)
@@MurrayFrost No problem, you're welcome! I was just so surprised to see you going so wrong, when all your other videos are brilliant. I guess what you wanted was a hint of that fm-radio-voice sound, right? Try these steps: First use the high pass filter at about 80Hz-90Hz. That will remove the rumble and hum without cutting too much away on the low end of your voice. Then give that EQ a 3db bump at about 150Hz-200Hz with a soft and middle-wide curve. Then do a -3db drop at about 1500Hz (1.5kHz) with a soft and wide curve. For the sibilance look at the EQ when you speak "S" and "Sh" and you will see where the spike is for your voice. Mine is at about 5000Hz (5kHz). Just do a 3db drop with a narrow curve and you'll be good to go. My voice is a baritone, yours seem to be a little higher. It took me a little "playing with the nobs" to find the right settings for me, but if you follow my tips it will be a breeze for you. Let me know how it's running and have a great day! 🤓👍
@@tapatvde This is great! I'm gonna try and use these tips to readjust my EQ as I know practically nothing about sound mixing lol. Thanks for the great comment!
@@JaasBaas You're welcome, thanks for your kind words! You will need an EQ that shows you the waveforms in real time, so you can see unwanted peaks in your frequency range! Are you using a Waxe XLR or a different interface? With the Wave XLR you can use their own wavelink EQ that @Murray Frost has show in his video, but if you use any other interface, i do recommend the FREE TDR NOVA plugin ( www.audiopluginsforfree.com/tdr-nova/ ). That plugin does not only provide two kinds of EQ, you'll get three compressors with it! That fm-radio-voice sound that everybody likes - it's mostly made of good EQing and proper Compression. 🤓👍
