What do you think of the results with the simple change on our RRC?
We take that Range Rover Classic that we just picked up (The one that didn't make it across town) and make it a tiny bit better. We intalled a 2" Terrafirma suspension lift and some 235/85R16 Kumho Road Venture MT tires to give it a better look and a little more capability off the pavement.

The old Classics are incredibly capable offroad vehicles, underrated by people who don't know any better.

Great job! Love these no nonsense rigs. Just pickup up an 89 classic in Eastnor green with cream conoly leather. Oxidized paint will be paint corrected. Will never be perfect, but perfect for me.

I've had my 95 LWB for almost 23 years, it has a 4" Terra Firma lift with the cranked radius arms, a winch and the original air compressor has been repurposed for tire inflation. The old girl is a beast.
@LostCauseRanch
@LostCauseRanch Год назад
Nice! I’m down to just one classic at the moment. Oddball thing, 95 LWB with a camper shell grafted on the back.

I dig it. Looks like I am a year late though. I’ve got a Black 95 LWB that I excited to upgrade.
@LostCauseRanch
@LostCauseRanch 2 года назад
Have fun with that, as I’m sure you know the 95s are special. It doesn’t take much to make these guys look the part. We just did about the same treatment to our 95 LWB a couple months ago, went with a 265/75/16 instead though for a little more width tire wise.

Absolutely love it. I had one YEARS ago in Hawaii and it was the greatest little beach goer. I want to pick up another one soon; Short wheelbase only, but the prices these days are insane.
@LostCauseRanch

Yes, they are getting kind of crazy lately. I guess at least the rise in price is softening a touch, but I also love me a swb rrc. Such cool rigs. Hope you get a chance at another one someday.

@@LostCauseRanch High end ones are super overpriced and its hard to find good deals. I bought mine for 4800, sold it for about the same. Could have kept it and probably got 10k easy for it. The same is happening to D2 prices.

For what it’s worth, I have fitted 32” tyres to my 91 Classic and have not yet changed the ride height. So far, I haven’t experienced any rubbing although I have only done mild trails up to now. I plan a similar 2” lift since this will be mainly a runabout (with an 5.3 L33 upgrade in the works).

Hey again man, you've got a little bit to answer for lol After watching some more of your videos, we've just bought a first-year ('89 build) Discovery 200TDi that's been sat for 16+ years and has "some" rust... OK so a Land Rover was on the radar for a while so not entirely your doing, but the videos have kinda spurred me on a bit haha. It's going to be a bit of a project but the chassis at least seems to be OK, fingers crossed! Keep up the cool videos, appreciate you sharing :)

@@LostCauseRanch It's all good fun, spent the evening ripping out not one but two aftermarket alarm/immobiliser systems that did nothing except cause the keys to lock themself in once! Now it's at least starting on the key and not as likely to burn down. Be well man.

I love your build! Question - what Terrafirma kit did you go with, light, medium, or heavy? I am looking to do the same to mine but am having a hard time deciding. I plan to do a tent and other items, unlikely to go fully loaded overland though. I want to avoid rear sag so I'm leaning toward heavy. I'd love to know what you put on yours. Thanks!
@LostCauseRanch
@LostCauseRanch Год назад
I’m pretty sure this set was the mediums. That’s usually what I go with on the Terrafirma lifts. But with a tent up there the heavy might be the ticket.

Cool RRC, keeping it the most original possible, that's cool. One thing to ask: what about the 3% diameter wheel limit? between 205/80R16 (original size) and 235/85 R16 you got 10% difference. I got to tell you: they look really cool, and you got more clearance, but the original gearing is a concern, what do you think? thanks for sharing!
@LostCauseRanch
@LostCauseRanch 2 года назад
It does make a bit of a difference. Ideally I would switch to 4.10 myself. But it is liveable at the stock gearing.

If I remember correctly on this one, it have a catalytic converter that broke apart, so the innards were bouncing around inside the case causing the knocking noise.

No kill shelter for all the old Landy’s. Perfect haha. As far as a reco for future videos, what about new owners buying guide. I see a lot of new owners in the Landry Facebook groups and they are always complaining about the same problems in certain years. 2005 LR3 bad diffs and leaking sunroofs, bad trans. 2004 D2 blown head gaskets and over heating issues. Then the good years like 2008-09 LR3’s and D1 with the 4.0 that go forever.

Another way to ruin a RRC ride. Tires too big and a 2 inch lift will make your castor smaller. This can give the famous death wobble. Plus you still use the original length brake hoses up front. Ols RRC are not made for huge mud tires.

You are very wrong sir, my rrc has a 5" rte fab kit, 35" tires, 4.70's with Detroit, and a truetrac! Daily driver and wheeler for 3 years now no problems.
