The Lost Cause Ranch was coined by my brother years ago, he noted that anything that got moved to my property became a lost cause. I have owned a Disco 2, LR3, RR Sport and currently own a 2016 LR4 HSE Fuji white. In my humble opinion I think the LR4 is the best all around Land Rover/Range Rover vehicle ever built. I have only 59,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 5,000 miles. It’s just a fabulous vehicle. Your opinion please.
I really appreciate you doing this video! I’m a new LR4 (2015) owner and just got this job quoted $4500 lower job and the full job would cost $15k. I’m in RI and although mine doesn’t make weird noise I’m paranoid that this will break while I’m out with my kids. Nice job, I look forward to watching more of your content.
That cam cap 😂. Those guys would crap themselves if they saw the engines ive put back together and ran for another 100,000 miles😅. Low spots are absolutely fine, you just have to make sure to file down any high spots, burrs or protrusions.
Yes, it is sometimes unrealistic to expect something with north of 100k miles along with calling for 15k mile oil changes to not have had some junk go through it. It looks similar to a lot of stuff that I’ve had apart. Is it 100% percent ideal? No. Is it worth sticking $15,000 dollars to have them put a new engine in a $12,000 car? No. And chances are a used engine would look pretty similar inside.

Good choice using the starter from the starting stand. It doesn't need a support bushing in the transaxle. You would have needed to source an adapter bushing. This solution is much more straightforward. Plus that Autostick starter is more powerful.
Man. You have to come to the Mid Atlantic Rally (MAR). The other events are nice but this one will 100% be worth the drive (220 trucks on 1000 private acres!)

I bought LUCKY8 lift rods for my 2010 LR4 HSE. Love it sitting up 2 1/2 inches higher. I also have recently added a flat roof rack. Got the POWERFUL UK LR4 MOLLE PLATE & bought the ROVER BLACK GEAR BOX AND MOUNTED IT TO THE MOLLE PLATE AND THEN MOUNTED THE MOLLE PLATE TO MY LR4 ON THE PASSENGER REAR EXTERIOR WINDOW. ALSO BOUGHT THE LR4 SIDE HOOD VENTS IN SHINEY BLACK AND A SHINEY BLCK HOOD SCOOP OFF EBAY AND INSTALLED ALL 3 OF THOSE. ALREADY HAD A REAR HATCH LADDER I STALLED. ALSO ALREADY HAD THE HEADLIGHT AND TAIL LITE BLACK GUARDS INSTALLED. ORDERED WIND VISORS FOR ALL 4 DOORS AND INSTALLED THEM . BEFORE I DID ALL THAT I TOOK MY LR4 TO MY BODY HE RUNS HIS OWN BODY AND PAINT SHOP. HAD HIM REFINISH AND PAINT THE HOOD,FRONT BUMPER AND ALL LITTLE DENTS AND SCRATCHES ALL THE WAY AROUND IT. LOOKS LIKE BRAND NEW NOW WITH 133,030 MILES AND 15 YRS OLD MANUFACTURED IN 2009. I've bought a number of brand new vehicles in my 64 years, but this 2010 land rover lr4 hse is by far my favorite vehicle ever. I've really enjoyed and love my Rover and will never sell or trade it. The Eco would do some of the more difficult stuff, nothing extreme though. It’s on my list to outfit one of the rigs a little heavier. But there is also one close to the ranch that will be quite the treat when done for stuff like that.
Mark the ignition timing lock with a marker. For me, it was comforting seeing that mark each time I checked timing, Getting the front pulley bolt to stay tight with left hand threads and turning clockwise to check timing requires locking the engine and putting some torque in the opposite direction.

Depending on the scope of damage and your area, if no bent valves and the cylinder head doesn’t need to come off I would expect something in the $3000-5000 range for a decent independent.
A lot happened in the last 4 years and where I’m at many people are still processing those events and what they experienced in their own lives. Your videos are very much appreciated by all of us! A dedicated electric gantry hoist would be far better than the VEVOR attic lift device you got. It isn't designed to use the way you are using it. When it fails, it will end dreams, just sayin'. Be careful.
Merlin needs the exhaust pipe mod My son loves the exhaust mod I made thanks to you! Those mods to fit the larger wheels and tires I don’t have a problem with as in Australia wheel spacers are banned!!
Good move with the mic. Not sure the AT wheels enhance the look. I’m a little bit of an OEM look kind of guy. When you’re ready for a timing chain job +supercharger project let me know. I can turn a wrench and know Dubuque;-)

Oh man, my 4 is same color as Merlin. Love to see it. Good luck in MN it’ll be a blast! I am switching out my poverty spec wheels and getting better tires for a trip up to northwoods WI in Sept to do the off-road trail again. I put a 2.25” X pipe in the center muffler in spring, used the link you provided in that video thank you so much. Still has rear muffler doesn’t sound as meaty as your silverlander but it def makes itself known and I love it.

Sasha definitely gets to go along. She’s not as spry as she used to be, but still enjoys the traveling. I have the passenger side tweaked in the program, so just need to free up a little time to cut that out and get it fitted.
