That 3D printer is out of the ball park for me. I cast super small bronze fittings for my miniature furniture in 3 inch flasks with anything up to 50 pieces on my sprue trees. Because the flasks are so small and my kiln is also very small I've got the entire casting process down to 2 hours from investing my flasks to complete burnout and casting with a centrifugal setup. You have to work with the equipment you've got... I use a dremel with a wheel on it for cutting the sprues which saves you fingers and tons of jewellers blades. Great to see someone else casting without all that super expensive machinary you see on other video's. Great result...

I was doing same method but i wouldn't recommend doing with resin as amount of fails pretty high. But regular wax with same crucible size i did 12 min burnout with torch and 90% success.

You sit there with a tourch for 50 minutes on that thing? damn..... I do like that this is an option, but I don't know if I am willing to do that.

I love the demonstration. The design lacks a bit of complexity. How long would it take to make with a saw?

Why dont u use a burnout oven is there a specific reason?
@JNDjewelers
@JNDjewelers Год назад
because it saves costs. only for one pendant if using the oven will be very less efficient.
@JNDjewelers
@JNDjewelers Год назад
and save more time. when using the oven about 7 hours. . if burned only 1 hour
@bradleydewitte9894

And the result is the same as with the oven? Like is 100% ash free?

I have a mini burnout kiln that cost about $500 and is just big enough to fit 3 3inch flasks. I can do a complete burnout in under 2 hours which includes 1 hour on 730c. Not so expensive.. I think the company that sells them is called Paragon kilns..

I can burn out a bigger flask than that in half an hour using a microwave oven and I don't have to spend 50 minutes of personal time holding a torch

Also oxy/acetyline torches cost money to run. Much cheaper to invest in an oven. I'd like to see how you manage it in the microwave?

@@chrismalcomson7640 I don;t know any way to send pictures to a youtube account - if there is a PM mechanism, let me know. I didn't invent the technique, You can see it on the steedcraft youtube channel, but I did improve it. The steedcraft guy uses very small flasks placed inside a hollowed out firebrick inside a microwave oven. the firebrick contains a chunk of his mystery substance that is a "microwave susceptor" a class of materials that absorb microwave energy efficently and get orange-hot. My research determined that the mystery substance is silicon carbide, which you can cut to your desired size from a bench grinding wheel with a diamond blade angle grinder. (aluminium oxide grinding wheels do not work - they are not microwave susceptors ). I use a much larger firebrick than steedcraft and wrap it in ceramic blanket for better insulation. the fllask sits inside the firebrick, and that goes in a microwave oven for 12 minutes. you don't even need to give it full power. you take the flask out and turn it over so that both ends of the flask get roasted to dull red or orange heat. repeat for a total roast time of 48 minutes for a 60mm x 60mm flask. Less time for a smaller flask. Most people would expect that a metal flask could not be put in a microwave but it absolutely can, with no problems. This is extremely effective and I make brass and silver brooches this way all the time for sale on Etsy
