Thank you. I never noticed the velcro closures on the bag tubes! Could not figure how to get the metal tube through the bag tubes, until I saw your video. Appreciate your posting this!
Nice video & good job at assembly with the lawn sweeper. i brought a 46" one from Sears back around 2002---2003. mine works really well behind my 1025R. i have to use a pull rope to dump my hopper, when it dumps, it also collapses which is nice. then it all opens back up when i let the hopper back down. Awesome video & good job.
I have a agri-fab just like this and it really serves the purpose and does a great job for me just found you on RU-vid I agree it's a really works for me have a good day
I just put mine together yesterday and found this today. I was interested to see what you did with the long bolts that attach the basket to the frame. The hieroglyphics in the instructions gave no help and I couldn’t make heads or tales of it… so I felt forced to reverse the support channels, get shorter bolts, and add 4 washers on each side just to make it work. Now in your video I see you had additional silver plates over the support channels that I didn’t get. I can see how that solves my problem. But I made do and the sweeper works great!
Even though I’m 3 years late, I just got the 42in sweeper, once the rains stop I can’t wait to get out and use mine. Looks a lot more effective than raking or using a blower
We just got one, used used to have a craftsman, with a rope on it, to dump it. This one has this long rod, which to me, makes it harder to dump from the seat, had no problem with the rope. That’s my only complaint. Great video and review
@A Tale of Three Cabins, 5/28/21, I love this idea! I just got a Gravely ztx42 & was contemplating getting the bagger attachment. Well, that's ~$1000. & is cumbersome to install (uninstall). I notice this Agri-Fab doesn't need a trailer ball......~$300., not bad! I don't care about grass clippings but this, I have only to get the leaves (lots of'm) out from the sides w/my backpack blower......Once again...GREAT IDEA!
I understand you can also attach in the front of the lawn sweeper, a Agra- Fab dethatcher, so you could do both at the same tie. What's your feelings about doing both in one pass? Are you set up for this method?
Thanks for the video, I was able to realize that I had one of the frames backwards so the support rods didn't fit until I flipped it. Not sure why the instructions sheet has no mention of being aware of the orientation of it.
Just bought one of these today at a tractor store. And I assembled it before watching this video. And made the exact same mistake you did with the 2 holes for the retainer rods of the hopper frame assembly being upside down. LOL Also. I'd like to add with this particular model. I didn't get a spring holder for the positioning bolts for the hopper. At all. Not included.
I really wish Agrifab expanded their smart-link system for a true all in one row behind. I like how one unit can be the aerator, dethatcher and roller, but I don’t want to get a second unit for the lawn sweeper, as well as for the broadcast spreader or even sprayer. They make a separate combo dethatcher and lawn sweeper, but then you can’t add on a aerator attachment. They also make a separate combo aerator and broadcast spreader tow behind, but then you can’t use the dethatcher or lawn sweeper unless you get a separate unit. The smart-link system would be the best on the market if they offered the ability to use a aerator and broadcast spreader together, as well as a dethatching with lawn sweeper, all in a single tow behind platform and just swapping out the attachments.
Hi i love the video in Min 5.43 when you put together, i bought the same with the model 45-04922 and we try to put it together but still goinf out when my husband use it....
I got the same model number but my pieces that the basket hangs on are shorter than the ones in this video and per the instructions you have to shut your rider and get off the rider to empty the basket. if you try empty yet while driving it cuts too short to the sweeper and dumps it on top of the sweeper. Is there a kit which comes with longer bars coming out of the back of the sweeper and an extension to the handle?
Very detailed video....Lovely music choice made this easy to watch.... I ordered one of these from Lowes... It came to me bent in a few places due to poor shipment... Sent it back to Lowes. I never bought another one.... I wonder whether this sweeper would pick up grass cuttings or just light leaves like shown here?
I replaced the pull rod with a length of rope that allows me to push to empty rather pull to empty. I attached a heavy spring to the hopper that eases the emptying. Easier for my old shoulder.
Nice video. I gave ya a like. Last year I had to start taking care of my folk's lawn. Yowza!! 1.5 acres and lots of trees. I raked at first. Skip that. I got one of these used off of Craigslist. MUCH better than raking. Unfortunately it's still a fair amount of trips back to dump. With all the dumping it was taking me 4+ hours to do their lawn. I think this year I'm going to bite the bullet and get a leaf vac. Hopefully my comment didn't come off as griping. These things are absolutely great within limitations. They're a lot less $$ than a leaf vac.
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 - I'm fortunate there. My folks live on a river, so there's a hill that's slanted down towards it. Dump and go. A bit of leaf blower use to push it around a few trees, but overall pretty easy. I wish the yard rake had more capacity. If it had 3X the capacity, it would be perfect.
Does it tear up your lawn when you turn? I bought an ohio steel one that did this because the wheels wont spin and i returned it now im skeptical about these things
Technically I live in the woods. Would you recommend this product for a yard that accumulates more leaves in a week than what is shown in your yard in this video?
Yes if you have a place to dump them. I did it again a few weeks ago with much more leaves and the hopper was full after about 3 passes. So having a decent amount of area to dump the leaves becomes more critical.
I'm possibly in the market for one, I got an old spreader with the house I just bought and the wheels seem to require a lot of tension and grip to turn and spin the sweeper. What ends up happening half the time is the wheels just skid around and the sweeper doesn't turn. I've take the thing apart and can't find any issue. Wondering with this new Agri-Fab you bought, how easy is it to turn the wheels to get the brush turning? Thanks for the video and any help you can possibly provide!
The wheel's gear needs to be packed with grease every few years and the brush axle needs lubricated. It's all explained in the manual as part of the maintenance.
I would think you could modify it for a zero turn. Once that hopper is full, it does take a good amount of strength to dump it, so you might need a handle on that rope.
Still have and use mostly at my Daughter's house. The have to huge maple trees in the center of their yard. Sticks, usually larger than a foot will jam the sweeper. Usually do a visual scan and remove as many sticks as possible before starting.
Hi, can you tell me why do the wheels lock after a few revolutions? Is this normal? So a few revolutions normal (then the grass is also collected) then again a few revolutions where the wheels block (or drag, so do not rotate and thus no grass is collected!) What is it. Am I doing something wrong? Best Anton
Nice video . I was thinking you don't have very many leaves yet . How are you going to try it out . Then you answered my question ... daughters place . I guess that sweeper would be good for picking up the grass clippings as well . Thanks
Henry Rodgers Seems like it’s good from grass, pine needles, and of course more leaves. Wanted to put the video out even though the bulk of our leaves is yet to fall so if others who are considering making a similar purchase can get an idea.
@@genedameier8746 I've talked to guys in the past who teach pecan classes and they say the Bag a Nuts have to have so much extra weight added to them to be able to push the rubber nut grabbers down to pick up the nuts, that it's not built sturdy enough and it breaks. They said that's from 1st hand experience.
I used to have a Sweepster years ago that worked very very well! I was pricing them used and they are 2-4k used so I decided to check out some of these cheaper ones and my main impression is that they look incredibly cheap and would break after a few seasons.
It's not heavy duty by no means, It gets used about 3 days a year and seems OK. it's light enough to hang on a wall out of the way the rest of the time.
Ya pretty handy for a small place but I have a number of places and have leaf clean up at each place. Probably would be sweeping about two full acres covered in leaves out of 6 acres. I think I need to looks for a decent used commercial one.
I have one and it doesn't appear to be cheaply made. I've talked to people that own them and they are very happy with it. I owned a similar one Parker model that I used for 20 years.
I seen it picked up that long branch. Does it pick up shorter ones around 6-12" diameter 1/4 to 3/4 inches? That's what I'm looking for. Thanks for the video.
Very small less then 6 inches, larger twigs and stick can get caught in the brushes and jam. I would scan the yard for stick and branches and pick them up before using the sweeper.
I’m sure Agri-Fab manufacturers this sweeper for John Deere, if you compare all the Agri-Fab tow behind attachments to the same units that John Deere sells there exactly the same only difference the JD units green, oh and higher price, ya think LOL
One, the vinyl and net body looks like it will not last much more than two years. And two when you do empty it into a long pile , it still has to be raked into trash bags. I guess if you're doing more than half acre it is worth it
Tbh, I don’t like the tire style of the gears as they spin, If possible I would machine or find some type of rubber risers or put some more money in getting better wheels… they are reliable but sometimes they do seize up without proper weight. I am just saying picking up grass clippings or leaves would be fine, But the tires are my biggest problem with lawn sweepers like this.
