I share 7 tips to create depth in your landscape photos. As a landscape photographer, you can use these seven tips/techniques to create 3-dimensionality to your landscape photos. You can also mix and match them to your heart's content. A strong depth invites the viewer into the photo. It can also create a sense of looking out of a window. Be sure to stick around for the bonus tip too ;)

Great episode Mads and although I love fog, I preferred the sunlight image on this occasion. For anyone thinking about your course, I say enrol. I did last week and finished watching the last tutorial last night and can honestly say your knowledge, techniques and workflow has been truly enlightening. About to watch it all again and start taking some notes and then revisit some of my previously processed images. Can’t thank you enough for all the work you’ve put into your course.

A very substantive segment, Mads. Definitely the fog image. There is a lot of detail here and the subtle colors and lighting in the fog lend themselves to the scene by generalizing the impression rather than randomizing it, if that makes sense.

Both the images are beautiful. I would hang them on my wall. If I had to choose one , in this case I would say the sunny one. I think the conditions suit the trees. Fresh and green and relaxing. But I love heather, birches and fog as well. My favourite type of landscape. Thank you for your wonderful videos. 👍👍👍

Great!!! Adding the 70-200 in a tight place was genius, makes everyone think!! Save some $ use the little used/known 24240 hey f/8-11 anyway!! and easier on the back!! Cover all bases with just 3 lenses and a smaller bag 1224, 24240 and the 200-600 (this not as big or heavy as it looks and uses the 1.4/2x for a 1800mm) capture anything you can see or barely see night or day and you have room for clothes, camping gear and food for the great escape!!!

Your instructional videos are a work of art in and of themselves and the perfect way to start my day. Personally, I like the first photo. The sunlight creates nice separation as do the shadows to the left of the frame. I wish I used Photoshop for editing, just so I could take your course and learn from you.

I love the sunlit image than the fog one, primarily because the sunlight makes the landscape and environment look way more lively and earth-like. Also, the direction of light is so pleasing to view in the sunlit image. This video really helped me out since a few weeks ago, I was photographing the woodland area and having trouble creating depth in my photo. Thank you very much for this informative video!

Hi Mads, very useful video. My preference is for the one with the fog/mist - with the side light one there is a sapling in the mid-ground that annoys me as it takes my eye. I noticed it earlier when you discussed taking the fog version and was really happy that in the final shot you'd moved slightly so that it was off to the right and not in my line of sight.

To go along with the point about atmosphere, I took a photo of sunflowers last month at sunset that looked okay. However, when a car passed by, kicking up dirt/dust from the gravel road, it added atmosphere to my photos that made them look much better.

Good tips there Mads. As regards which tree shot I like best, I guess it depends how you are feeling, they are both great but leaning towards the side lit version it has a greater separation and the lovely green in the leaves ads great colour and a gradual shift from light to dark. 👍.Did you remove the bushes in the mid ground in post processing on the foggy version?
