I've watched this so many times and I still cry every time the doctor says, "that's the first time I've heard you mention Natalie." And then Natalie belts she's not there. It's so heartbreaking and the music is so rich with feeling.
I love this number. its disappointing that the in between lines aren't on the soundtrack. Like the performance and stuff like that, because, to me, that is one of the most chilling parts.
@devoutlyimmature they originally had a song for dr. madden, it was called "feeling electric". when it was in the show (off broadway) it was the title song, until the title was changed to "next to normal". feeling electric was cut and parts of it were put into Wish I Were Here. and i completely agree...i would LOVE to hear louis do Feeling Electric. he has the perfect voice for it!
I do love Aaron Tveit and yes I can appreciate that he's super attractive and tallented. However, Next To Normal is a complex and beautiful musical which relies on all of the leads and not just Aaron being sexy..
@thesixtyfirstpupil For Alice. I don't have her name on hand, but she was more...believable. Alice is wonderful in her own way and she DID win the Tony, I just favored the understudy. and I've seen both.
