I used the Vellum from Stampin' Up and cut a full sheet down to 4 quarter sheets. Applied my Stampin' Blend markers to the paper choosing the colors I wanted to work with. Then using a stiff paint brush I dabbed on 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and the color starts to move.
Make sure you are working with a piece of cardboard of chipboard under the vellum to keep your work area clean.
This is such a fun technique with beautiful results.

That's amazing! I had no idea that technique would work on vellum. I've seen Tim Holtz do it with liquid alcohol ink on Yupo, and I assumed that Yupo was required. But I have a good supply of heavy vellum, so I'm trying this!! Thank you for eexperimenting and sharing your results here.👍🏻

Barbara....these are so easy and so much fun to make. And all the possibilities are endless of what you can do with your vellum pieces after you make them. So many die cuts and strips, and circles and squares...oh my!!! have fun creating!!

I can see the endless possibilities of using these papers afterwards for backgrounds. By the way for those who might be as clutzy as I, do not spill the alcohol on that cutting mat it might take off the lines it also takes the lines off of clear plastic rulers Just a tip.

I watched your previous videos yesterday and decided to experiment today. I only had coloured vellum blue, green and yellow so used those. I sprayed my isopropyl alcohol then added Tim Holtz metallic alloys - gold and silver were best, the rose gold just puddled. . Oh my goodness, was I delighted with the outcome. Now I need to decide what to do with them. Thanks so much for your original idea.

I haven’t had a very good year. Fell in March, internal bleeding, med flighted to Roanoke, in hospital 5 weeks and they told my children I wasn’t going to make it but here I am. Watched several different videos on vellum…. I think the trick to it not curling up is coloring the whole sheet. I have used card stock vellum , and it curls . I will try coloring the whole piece next time. Thanks for sharing 😉

You can use a variety of different inks & markers but alcohol markers work the best.

Hi there . First thankyou for sharing this with us. I don't have a printer and i was looking for a video to show me how to color on vellum so I can stamp the images i want and i came across this. I love how they turned out. I wanted to ask you if you were using watercolor based markers or alcohol?

Lovely idea for creating backgrounds. Tried it out on a value pack of vellum from Staples with common markers. End result couldn't be better. Not sure why your "non-Stampin up" vellum did not work for you

She is a Stampin Up demonstrator. I order the card stock vellum. It is heavier and you can do a lot with it.

I'm not sure if the weight. I used the vellum from Stampin' Up. It worked so much better than other vellums I tried.

The higher the percentage of the alcohol- the more it spreads the alcohol ink.

Kathy, love this technique and the assorted blues are just beautiful. As a suggestion, Please don’t try to talk over the heat tool. It’s very hard to hear you which just makes it annoying.
