This DIY Gilt Mirror is by far one of my favorite crafts. It’s beautiful. I’m so proud of how it turned out, and I’m so excited to share this step by step tutorial with you!
All of the supplies needed to make your very own DIY Gilt Mirror will be linked below. The gold frame could definitely be achieved with by applying gold leaf, however I chose to spray paint the gold onto the frame and appliques. It’s a quicker, easier method.
This make it yourself Gilt Mirror is a perfectly gorgeous, very extra, addition to any space in your home to add instant glam. To create your own carved frame, gold, gilt mirror: start with a full-length mirror of your choice and cover the glass with paper. I used old magazines and found that slipping the paper between the frame and glass worked best. Then lay out your covered mirror, and appliques on a tarp or other floor covering and spray paint the appliques and frame in the color of your choice. I chose a metallic gold, but silver would also be beautiful. Even fun colors would look great and be a unique and modern spin on a classic elegant piece.
When the paint is dry, use E6000, or your favorite adhesive, to glue the appliques onto the frame in a pattern of your choice. Allow to dry, remove the paper from the glass and you have created your own gorgeous gilt mirror at home!
