You are completely wrong and spreading dangerous, nonsense information. Low power does not mean that the supply cannot provide "high power" and kill someone. You should have switched live and not neutral. Stop defending your actions and maybe learn for a minute? The dude is right.. this IS DANGEROUS. This is what happens when half ass "engineers" start playing with AC with no fundamentals.

0x5347_0 : Actually it IS dangerous even if you are using small appliances, hence live wire should always be connected to the switch.

@@j0539h The neutral wire, here in the USA anyways, is bonded to ground in the main panel. So touching a neutral wire shouldn't have any effect.

A Sonoff can fit inside a normal receptacle box, you just need to remove the plastic housing. I've mounted numerous sonoff's in-wall with 3D printed enclosures.

techiesms i also watched your video to connect them to google assistant, i have alexa and i linked it using adafruit but it requires special word ( trigger) to activate alexa for ifttt like If i say " alexa turn on light" it will not work I have to say " alexa trigger on light " then it will sen data to ifttt and then adafruit. I found some videos to control through alexa. May be if you have done something regarding this it will be very helpful.

Might be better to switch the Live connection, unless you have included some ground fault protection.

sonoff has no ground, should be used for lamps that dont require.

that's what the problem I was facing initially and hence I used the MCT 2e to isolate the pins of esp and after using that IC the module boots perfectly

sure, I have been working since long on this project. I think with mct2e the issue will be fixed. Also do you have idea of how they calibrate in sonoff like long press button and they identify the network ? and can I use MOC3041 OPTOCOUPLER insted of mct2e ?

And by making one yourself, you can get to know each and every step running in the background of this product. Second thing If you are using your own made project That gives you an ultimate satisfaction that no money or no product can ever give​ you. My ultimate aim of the videos is just to share knowledge. If you are not interested in knowing how the stuff works then no need to watch this video You can just go to Amazon and buy that stuff.

What if you want to make your own device that is controlled with the esp8266 without having to use the sonoff in the device that you are about to sell? Wouldn't using the sonoff with a device you make to sell bring up legal issues?

In the hardware connection you shown, the orange connection to chpd is connected with led and then to mct2e

+Moiz Kachwala led is just provided 3.3v by default on the anode side and it will get the ground though GPIO 2 of esp8266 which is connected with mct2e. Are you getting the connections???
