So basically to create those smooth melodies you'd have to use diatonic instead of pentatonic? But at the same time mix and match to come up with more melodic solos? Then spice it up by adding some palm muting and differentiating rhythm's?

Steve, so if I, IV, V are always major, what happens if you're starting with a minor chord as your one chord? Your 4 & 5 would be minor too, right?

IMO, it's better to learn the Diatonic Major and Minor scales first, then the Pentatonic. If you do, these melodic capabilities are already understood.
