I just bought a bottle of the MM 101 and they hit it out of the park, it's incredible and the new bottles now have the paper label like the regular & the 46 with the 101 marking on it, not the etched bottle and it now has a cork at least the bottles I have I emailed MM and they verified that they now are using the classic paper labels on the 101 bottles!. I picked up 2 bottles so I could take the half bottle of the MM 46 I have and I topped it the rest of the way with the 101, giving me basically a 97.5 proof bottle of MM 46! Tasty as hell! and if you pick up enough bottles of the 101 and hang on to the cork afterwards, they fit perfectly in all the other MM bottles. great review and 🥃Cheers!
Next from Maker's Mark, will be Maker's Mark BIB...gotta keep coming out with new ways to get people to buy. I have been interested in this one and am very happy you reviewed. Thanks for the great and entertaining review...as always!
Same thing happened to me...I went to Makers Mark...tasted everything...have never been a "Mark" fan at all....but the 101 is the BEST!!....downside....you can only buy it AT MAKERS MARK!!!!
A lot of people have recommended this bottle to us, but to this point I haven’t been inspired enough to get up off my sorry buttcrack to go get me some. But this my friend, is all the motivation my buttcrack needs. Picking this up on my next trip to the whiskey store.
After sipping this on the stream this week I was excited to hear what you had to say about it. I’ve never tried the regular maker’s but I do like the 101 a bunch
That moment when you know you like something that you weren't expecting with that smile of surprise that you cannot contain is gold. (That sentence was awkward, but I know you get it).
Thanks for the honest review (and the entertainment, as always). I was going to pass since I already have the cask strength, but the 101 sounds completely different. Cinnamon stick versus elephant ear - I'll take both!
If there's no new Matt vids just go back and watch some oldies but moldies. I happened to be sipping on some MM 101 after being frickin' sick for a week. It is tasting pretty good. Cheers Matt and I hope your dental reconstruction project is going well. Cheers dude!
I picked this up while starting my collection during April 2021 and holy crap this has to be the best tasting bourbon I’ve had yet and my experiences are quite limited. And I’ve also picked up a bottle of blantons. Dare I say I like this better than Blantons. 🤭 giving the blantons a neck to get some air in there and see how I like it.
I'm tearing at my desk right now watching this. I love how Matt drops the s bomb and the mute comes in right after. For me I can't stand any of the Maker's Mark bottlings. The Maker's Mark 101 was the super sweetie sweet spot to this Elephant ear wearing guy at pre pandemic fairs. The Maker's Mark 101 was my last chance at Makers Mark and I'm glad I took it. It will be the only one I drink now as it is the only one I can stand.
Amazing right?! This one quickly moved to number one for me. It's been compared to Pappy Van Winkle using a very close Mash Bill! Thanks for the review
So I had both the Se4-pr5 and the MM 46 Cask Strength staring me down in the isle... And I went with th 46CS... I hope it was a good route! Now... This 101 looks tempting as well! Cheers
Big fan of MM101! Got a couple of bottles on my last cruise. Hope i see it here in MD! I have a love hate thing going with makers too. I like 101 and the limited releases, hated cask strength and the regular is unimpressive
The local VA State Store was discounting this to $36.00 At this price I figured, how could you lose? So I bought the two remaining bottles. Fantastico!
The last bottle of cask strength Makers Mark I bought was a screw top. It was thin and reminded me of Makers 46. Def not worth the money. I was told that Makers Mark sold to a Japanese Co.
How can you not like Makers 46??? Just drop down and do 100 pushups. Don't really like high proofs but 101 should not be too bad. But to me I could probably buy at least a couple of bottles of 46 for the price of 101. Just love 46. Now get to those pushups. Hell some other dudes picked Makers 46 over Weller.
I guess I must have looked like a dumbass jumping up and down in the Big Stop parking lot, but when I explained that ADHD Whiskey said to, I think they got it.
Yes it is a nice bourbon but as one reviewer stated the 101 and the 90 taste just about the same. This is just a money grab, in a barrel you get 89% of the 101 volume, compared to the 90. So if the 90 is $22 then the 101 should be $25. But it is priced at $33.49 where I am. Seems something like WT 101 at $20 would be a more sensible purchase.
Matt may have a better answer, but in my experience, older bourbon has a depth, and more warmth. Younger whiskey is like taking a bite of fruit that isn’t quite ripe, the flavor/smell is sharper. That may not help, but you’ll begin to notice as you get into it. It’s a combination of proof and age. Lower proof stuff, to me, is like drinking a coke after all the ice in the glass has melted. The extra 11 proof points over the standard Makers makes a world of difference. I see the same difference between Wild Turkey Russels Reserve 10 year at 90 proof and Wild Turkey 101 (a blend of 6, 7, and 8 year old bourbons). The WT 101 is slightly younger, but the proof makes it better than the 10 year, IMO
Thanks for the info y'all, I'll hafta round me up a bottle, I'm not the biggest makers fan anymore which is odd cuz that's what I started out on. But for 40 bucks I can step out on the limb.
How long has MM101 been around? Certainly never seen it in Canada......but then a lot of good bourbon never makes it to Canada.....yeah I'm talking to you FOUR ROSES!!!!!!!!!
Just to be clear, FR SiB is available in Ontario and the Yellow Label is available in most provinces but Ontario is kind of a separate country....like Quebec....and Alberta despite having privatized liquor sales can't seem to get a single bottle of SiB........Ontario quit hoarding.
@@Watchman999I am waiting very impatiently for it to hit the LCBO. I'm still fairly new to bourbon and that is one I am eager to try. I did manage to grab some Eagle Rare 10 and Weller Antique 107 when they briefly hit the shelves, though.
@@ADHDWhiskey I always assumed you shlam back BTAC and Michters 20 as your daily drinker. I've got OGD BiB right now and I enjoy that a lot. Probably should give 114 a go.
