Yes to a part 2 on this! Some ideas would be NARS orgasm, ABH brow, Tarte shape tape, Bobbi Brown color corrector, Laura Mercier caviar sticks and translucent powder, MAC paint pots, NARS sheer glow or tinted moisturizer. For that matter I would love to see videos on many of these more classic brands especially Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Clinique, MAC, Bare Minerals as well as other department store (not Sephora) brands!
Clinique’s Black Honey was formulated with the perfect blend of red, blue and yellow pigments. Revlon’s Rum Raisin is a very similar to Black Honey - but on its own - it is a staple and classic shade. Revlon has Fire & Ice or Black Cherry, too.
I had the black honey in the pot before they discontinued it in the 90s and it was even better than the stick. It also came with the teeniest and cutest lip brush ever! I never use the brush, but I still have it as it’s so cute. I think the Chanel bronzer only deserves its status because it launched so many others to create similar products, but I think the Nars is way better for staying power and shade range and on my skin most products stay really well. I’d love a part 2 and a drugstore version.
Guerlain Terracotta bronze and Les Meteorites have been around forever. They were the first bronzer and highlighter I saw on the makeup counter. Thank you this was fascinating ❤
IMHO, Guerlain's Terracotta still makes the best bronzer for fair, rosy complexions that never pulls orange and looks very natural. Very few other bronzers at any price point can say the same. And I still love the Meteorites for a very subtle highlight -- along with the Cle de Peau highlighter bricks. They have a shade variation for every skin tone, and it is also very subtle yet very flattering and forgiving on older skin. I think that one also has been around since the 1970s are well.
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks; Guerlain bronzer; Clarins Lip Tints + Double Serum; Mac Strobe cream etc..etc... as well as all the classics already suggested below....think you'll have your work cut out Amanda! Look forward to more videos in this series 😍
Estée Lauder double wear never disappoints! It was also my wedding foundation and their shade range is amazing. The only foundation that *might* overtake it is the haus labs triclone BUT I still go to my double wear if I need my makeup to look fab an entire day.
Would defo love to hear more about cult classic products. I feel like it's a very untapped market on beauty spaces(besides magazines of course). I own quite a few cult classic(historic) shades and they were definitely purchases made out of curiosity due to their being a lack of information on them online.
Mature skin can wear the Estee Lauder Double Wear when prepped. In fact I need to still use setting powder down my T-zone but it's a wonderful make-up I've used since my 20's. And CT Pillow Talk lip liner is perfection! Some others you mention today I might try. Great video, thank you.
I love the demos and swatches. I don't know how you do it. It's great. Just keep going. Don't change the format of your chanel. And you always look fantastic. So yeah keep going and we will turning up to watch your vids.
Rum Raisin 💄 Nars Orgasm and Laguna cheek products. Lo’real mascaras, pink and green tube, then black and gold. My mom has been using only those for decades
My earliest makeup memories are all clinique as well 😅 my mom has used their products my whole life and i loved playing with the “computer” they used to have at their stand in Strawbridge’s
The Esteé foundation is the best!💓 I keep trying new ones, but none of them come close. I'm not young, my skin is dry, but it's wonderful in every way...🤗
Wow Pillow Talk is a decade old LOL! I’ve missed out on a lotta make up wearing the same stuff for ever 🤣🤣🤣 Lancome had my heart until I couldn’t get my fav eyeshadows anymore
Thank you! I always enjoy hearing your thoughts especially because our preferences and skin types are pretty much the same. Would love to hear a part 2
Loved this video so much! What reminded me of the benetint was the latest viral Milk jelly cheek/lip stain. I would LOVE to see you review it! You and Kackie have never steered me wrong with a recommendation, and I'm super curious if you'd agree with the rave reviews.
I worked at ulta in 2018-19 so that definitely sways my perception of cult classic lol but ones that spring to mind from that era are Anastasia brow wiz, Becca color corrector, Mac fix+, urban decay all nighter, too faced better than sex, nars orgasm blush to name a few. And Ariana Grande cloud lol I would sell at least 3 of those bad boys per shift
I’m surprised you say the Double Wear is matte on you. I also have dry skin and it’s more normal to luminous on me. All skin is different though so that could definitely be it! I love that foundation and keep it in my rotation. I love this video! Stuck at home in a flare so I’m enjoying the break from new makeup content! ❤️
Do you apply it with a sponge or brush? Watched a video with someone discussing that, that brush would make a matte foundation look matte, but a wet sponge may make it appear dewy
I really enjoyed the video, love to hear about the history of these products. On the Chanel sun cream, i’ve heard the reformulated version wasn’t great. But last year they came out with a travel size and is a completely new formula to the one you reviewed here - I love it. I’ve used many brands but I keep reaching for the travel version in medium. I recommend you try it, it blends great and the color is neutral.
Amanda, I watch everything you make and so can’t but seem to notice the wonderful jewellery you wear. Will you please please do a video and tell us more? Praying you do😊
An excellent dupe for the Chanel bronzer is the Collection Cream Bronzer by Collection Cosmetics. It’s only £8, blends like a dream and lasts all day. I believe it best dupes the original Chanel shade. It’s definitely available in the UK, not sure about countries.
Estee Lauder and Lancome Teint Idole are most repurchased for me , they never let you down, i've used them even when I had dry skin now i'm more normal to combo !
Luminous silk sinks into my pores Idk why because I don't even have big pores, I wanted to love it so much. I can make it work but for the price ?? I did try a small sample size so not sure what it was that made it look visibly heavy on my skin? Thanks Amanda ❤
Same I never tried the CT one but the Chanel is my fav bronzer in my collection, it blends itself and lasts all day long without setting. I have the tan medium shade in the new formula.
what about old-school youtuber favorites? mac paintpots, nars pot concealer, the beauty blender, better than sex mascara etc. Basically just what products you think still slay and i would also like to hear about some of the products you have used for the longest and why (could be seperate videos - guess it depends on how many products you have used for a very long time) FYI i really like this type of video since i see so many videos about the best new thing i always wonder how they stack up against older products. Like is it a great product of all time or just great compared to the new products people are testing out. Not saying you do that just that i see it so frequently that this type of video is refreshing. I just dont care whether a product is new or old i just want to buy good products and i sometimes think older products might be better because if they werent they would no longer be sold....
Hi Amanda, could you please compare both shades 1.5 and 2 side by side of the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation that you have? because i'm not sure but i think that the shade 2 is too light than shade 1.5 , i wish you have the shade 5 as well for comparison cause i think it has the same intensity as 1.5 but slightly different tint
Still don’t understand what this ‘cult makeup’ is….no hate though just trying to understand.😊 also, really interested in getting to learn more about these makeup products…
Amanda I hope you see this! Is there any chance you can try/review POWDER foundations for dry skin? I know that's a rare combo but nothing else beats powder in terms of being transfer proof and comfortable (closest I've come to feeling nothing on my skin). I've been using MUFE (the old version) which is beautiful only after setting spray, and I heard aquasurance is good but haven't tried. (Also hope you can shoutout which brands are and aren't BDS approved to help stand up against the g*n*c*d* being committed in P*l*st*n*)
This video came on my suggested list this morning... the title made me want to watch instantly 🤍 Definitely had to go check out some of your other videos afterwards, HOW am I just now finding your channel?? Your content is what I love watching, so super stoked I stumbled across this video and your channel 🩶🩷
Not makeup, BUT-i know you’re also a Dior nail glow girl. Are you aware of or have you tried the reformulation? I have no clue what I’m going to do now. You wouldn’t think something like a clear nail polish would ruin my life so hard but I’m ruined.
