I'm continuing on with my makeup declutter series. I'll link the other ones below. Today I'm getting rid of blush, bronzer and highlights that I don't use. I'd love to know how you handle products you aren't using. Do you give them away, throw them away or return a product? Let me know in the comment section below.

I think your collection is normal too for anyone who is passionate about makeup. I don't have a RU-vid channel, but I love trying out new products. If someone is into sewing etc, they're going to have a room full of fabric and patterns! Prime examples are my aunts and grandmothers, and they just do it as a hobby, no social media channel or public sales.

What a great perspective. My mom has the largest fabric stash I've ever seen. She has 3 sewing machines. Her favorite machine, her back up machine (in case her favorite is at the shop getting fixed) and the back up machine to her back up machine. She never wants to be without a working sewing machine when she's working on a project. I think that if makeup would last as long as my moms fabric stash, I wouldn't feel as bad about it. It does have an expiration date, otherwise I wouldn't be getting rid of this much stuff. Thanks so much for watching today, and happy makeup collecting!

Love that Hourglass Diffused Heat, I have the big size too. I received one of those Viseart Duo blushes in my Lucky bag, got rid of it, not my colors. I use to hold on to things because of the money I spent on it and would use it till it was gone. Just this past year I’ve been getting rid of things if I’m not using it and using up the things I really like.❤❤

I really wanted to love the Viseart face powders. (blush and bronzer) I just don't. It makes me sad. I like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes, but not enough to purchase a full sized single. I've had Diffused Heat for years. I like the color, and it still works beautifully. I enjoy and appreciate getting the occasional holiday 6 pan, but I'm not getting any blushes/bronzers/highlights in the large compacts anymore. I'm trying to remind myself that it's ok for something not to work. Not every product is designed for me or my tastes. I try and re-home as much as I can, or return it if it's still within time. Thanks so much for watching today!

I can't believe you haven't finished it. I went through 4-5 of this exact shade in the late 80s-early 90s when it was the only blush I wore. It's such a nostalgic throw back. Thanks for watching.

Yes, I'll probably do 2 or 3 eyeshadow declutters. One for larger palettes, one for smaller palettes, and one for singles. If I do it all at the same time, the video will be 2 hours long. That wouldn't be good.

I love watching the blush collections of someone with fair skin has. Even though I’m not super dark by any means (medium with cool olive undertones ) I am more inclined to wear softer blushes. Strange I never liked the way blush looked on me until I reached my 50s. I heard I mentioned that olive undertone people really don’t blush that’s why it looks garish. Thinking back it is true. Now that I’m older I need some life put back. Enough about me now back to you.

When I was younger I wore less blush because I had more of my natural flush. Since 40, I've needed blush desperately. ☺️ I like a brighter blush, but I try not to overdo it. Sometimes I accomplish it, and sometimes I look like a clown. That's ok, I LOVE my blush collection. Thanks so much for watching. I think I might actually be a fair olive undertone. 🤷‍♀️ Still trying to figure that out. I didn't know that was even an option until recently.

I don't have any Cream or liquid complexion products except foundations and Concealer. I would never get rid of any of my Hourglass palettes 🥰
@thelipstickgal
@thelipstickgal Год назад
I like how long the Hourglass powders last. They also make me look like I'm subtly lit, but not overly glowy. The Hourglass blush palette I decluttered was very old, and I never reached for the blush because they were a mix of the highlighting powder and the blush. There is visible mica sparkles when I wear it, and it's not as favorite. The colors were also wrong for me. 🤷‍♀️

Pink Soap is the shade I wish I had. I thought there was a good chance she would rerelease the blushes this year, but it might not be until 2024. It's such a stunning formula, and one I reach for all the time when the weather cools. 🤞 for better packaging and new colors.

You did a great job! I have gotten rid of many of the same products. I am going to hold on to Cookie though. I find that sometimes, I want more oomph in my glow! :) I have been using highlighters for many decades, and up until 10 years ago, I only had one cream product at a time. Then I went overboard and had drawers full. I won't buy highlighter palettes anymore, and I try not to fall for hyped up products, but I am a sucker for those Rare Beauty compacts. I just got the 3rd and 4th shades. I had to give away the one darkest bronze, but I know I can make all the others work. If they are a bit too deep, I put them on before my blush. For my day-to-day contour and bronzer, I use a palette from around 4 years ago from Smashbox. I have to admit, that I do a bit of nose contour with a super old NYX duo stick that is still creamy and good. It's got to be 7 years old, at least! I used to only use Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer, and that worked for a long time, and then I feel like I graduated. I also have a MAC from several years ago that although a powder, seems to be a creamy dream. I am so pale, that when I don't use (plenty) of bronzer, I am encouraged to go home sick. :) I will admit, I've taken advantage of that. It really is good to declutter, which gives the best of our collection a better chance to be seen and used. Brava!💜

I used to love the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. It's a great formula, but there are so many other fabulous products to try. I'm glad I finally dipped my toes into the bronzer pool. 20 years ago, there was mostly only orange "bronzers". We've come such a long way. I remember when a brand would only make one shade, and those of us with fair skin had to apply carefully, or look like we had dirt on our face. I think the first light toned bronzer I had was Milk Chocolate from Too Faced. Every other one I had was way too dark. I like Cookie as a highlight for inner corners or tapped on my lid, but the last time I wore it on my cheeks, the car visor mirror told me the truth. It wasn't pretty. It just made me look like I was trying too hard. It accentuated the orange peel texture I have on my cheeks and got caught in my crows feel accentuating them. : ( I feel like the Rare powder highlights are just as bright, but smoother on my skin. Maybe I'm deluded, but I like them better. I don't want to keep things that I'm not using anymore, and I don't want what I love to get lost in a pile of unused products. It's good to clean house every now and then. I'm also trying to remind myself that I shouldn't over purchase. It's hard sometimes. Thanks so much for watching today!

Can't wait to try the LE blushes when she re-releases. I wasn't using cream/ liquids at the time so i skipped, but now that i have a lighter 'wfh' face they would have a place in my collection. i have about 1/4 left of the crystal nebula hl that will for sure be repurchased, its lasting me forever so i just want to make sure to finish before i hit 2 yrs lol. Since using the LE i don't buy as many powder hl at all anymore but i do want to try the new CT during the next sale. I prefer rare on its own but most of the time if i have a fuller face i use LE over a touch of powder hl anyway. i remember wanting cookie and you know now i def think its too intense ha.

Often times when i am not reaching for something anymore il put it aside until i have a decent pile and hub will bring it to work for the ladies to pick through. I can usually set aside lip products i want to work through just to finish up but i don't want to force myself to use a product either when i know i have stuff that i love.

@@anneviscardi I'm going to let my daughter, niece, and cousins pick through my declutters. There's a lot, but I want it to go to a good home. I really love the LE Crystal Nebula. I feel like it's very reflective, without being too much. Pink Moon is a bit more subtle, and Cosmic Rose was a mistake purchase. (I thought I was ordering Pink Moon) I've been using them as a glowy primer, and I love the look. They're perfect for mixing in with my foundation if I want even more glow. I can't wait until Lisa re-releases the blushes. They're so good! I think a few more cream blushes will be kicked out of my collection when I restock on the LE Enlivening Blushes. Thanks so much for watching today.

I'm not sure my collection is "normal" but that's ok. I find that when my collection is too big, I get struck with indecision. I hate when that happens, and I stop wearing makeup. I feel like it's good to go through and cull the stuff that I never use. That way, I know what I have, and stop purchasing similar products to the ones I got rid of.

Omg! I have not seen that jade compact from Clinique in a long time. I think that was my first blush but in pink. Great video and also thoughtful declutter. Love the Merit highlight as well, does yours smell like a strong oil? Just wondering, not sure if it’s just mine or if it went bad fast since purchasing it a fee months ago. As far as decluttering, if something isn’t striking excitement, it’s gotta go. I usually don’t have an issue hitting pan but sometimes you get stuck with duds and it just sits in a makeup graveyard basket. Lol.
@thelipstickgal
@thelipstickgal Год назад
Yeah, I hate the makeup graveyard. I decluttered in late 2021, and only just finished throwing away the stuff my friends and family didn't/wouldn't use. If I'm better about re-homing the products that don't work, I won't end up with this sort of extreme amounts. That Clinique blush is so nostalgic. I'm loving nostalgia right now, and I struggled to let it go. It is a soft and beautiful color, but I don't often reach for it. My Merit Balm Highlight doesn't smell. I've had mine since August, but there's a good chance it will go bad before I finish it up. I expect quite a few things will expire before they get finished. It's really rare I finish much of anything these days. It's mostly skincare, body care, hair care, and the occasional lip products. (I do tend to finish mascaras, brow products, and eye liners) Thanks so much for watching today. I appreciate it.

My oldest will get first pick of everything. She's almost the exact same shade of foundation ( just as fair, but more cool toned than me) Most of what I have here could work for her, but I don't thing a 15-year-old needs this much makeup. I do have cousins and a niece that live in town. None of this will go to waste. Thanks so much for watching.
