Yes, less is more. Took me forever to understand. New DnB is made for raves and DJs, I assume. It smashes too much, it really feels like my ears are bleeding when trying to listen to that stuff at home. There are also a lot of discussions to be had about music in this genre in general. If you look back in to the 90s, producers like Photek, Dillinja, they were creating new stuff. DnB was forward-looking music. Those same producers most probably laughing from those who still try and make something that sounds as if it was made back in 94. But at the same time, i personally don't like the direction it went. I don't generally like where the world went. But clinging on to the old isn't going to bring anything new to the table either. So... We just stick to what we like, I guess.

How did you use it back then ? Individual inserts or a master bus ?

Hey, thanks ! I don't know how to put to words what I have in mind regarding the MIDI. There are just some minor things that I have noticed, that work differently, but those things make up a part of my sound. For example, when programming drums, I can literally layer the same note twice in the piano roll in Cubase, and when playing back it creates this 90s flangey effect on drums. While doing the same in Ableton or Reason just does nothing at all. And other midi related functionalities are much better in Cubase to me personally.

Thanks ! Yeah I had the original CR1604, i like the tracks i mixed on it, it did have as you say a great sounding preamps, but at the time i felt like i needed hi pass filter which it didn't't have. Now i think the hi pass filter wasn't as necessary :)

Hey ! I know lots of producers used Cubase pre PC era, and they come from not Amiga but Atari computers, since 1989 :)
