I really don't think he is struggling with exploding pots...lol even the master potters have an occasional blow out. I too DID struggle with this issue, and you would never guess who steered me in the right direction to stop the problem....... you guessed it, it was Jon the Potter. I asked him about my issue and it seems I was in too much of a hurry to bisque and not slow cooking them. I now pre cook all my pots for about three hours just under 200 degrees to ensure they a free of moisture.

Love watching dude hands on clay. Actually just uploaded a video like this (not nearly as good) because the calming, natural aspect of pottery, the cyclical nature of the work, just seemed to work with the water sounds of my fish and the fluttering of my birds. It's all a very "return to nature" concept, pottery is, in a way.

You have done a great job putting the work involved into perspective. Well done! I have a similar video as a slide show. After the pots come out of the kiln, I show the following: Packing up pots for the show Loading the van Laying the carpet for my booth Setting up my display Stocking the shelves Waiting for customers Customers in the booth (I need to get a shot of a customer buying something) I end with a slide that says “REPEAT”. When someone at a show asks me, “How long does it take to make one of these?” I quickly pull out my trusty iPad and show them all the steps involved. It can take nearly 10 minutes just to explain to them in great detail how it’s made. Invariably, when I’m done with explaining the process thoroughly, they say something like, “I had no idea that it took so much work to make it!” I then exclaim that, “These pots aren’t done yet!”. I tell them that the final step is to “sell them”, and I’m not quite sure when that will happen. I suggest that they could be of assistance with that. I have educated a lot of people about the process of making pottery.
