Perfect Timing! This is the exact problem I'm working on solving today - finding the perfect brush for long grass. Thanks Michael!

I actually took an old fan brush and made a tree and texture brush. I love yours so much, but I made one for using maskoid for watercolor. More on homemade brushes! I love this💕💕💕💕💕💕

Now I know why my guardian angel was nudging me to keep those plastic ferrules from new paintbrushes, but I threw them out anyway... What a great idea! 🎁🤗🤗 (Another good idea I have seen a painter using on You-tube is a modified round bush with jagged bits cut out, for painting a tree-lined part of the horizon; I think he was a watercolour painter.)

Thank you for these explanations, I have small plastic tubes, which I received with my "Michael James Smith" brushes, I will make this brush very useful indeed for long grasses. It's great, thank you!

why buy his brushes? Buy the brushes from Rosemary and Co, that way you cut out middle man MJS and his crazy prices

Hi Michael, thanks again for all that you are doing for us struggling to get it right. Being an engineer my suggestion is to use electrical shrink tube, you could then use any stick for the job. A few pence would last years. Best regards and a Happy New Year to you and yours. Pete on the IOW

You could also use adhesive lined heat shrink tubing and a heat gun. Be sure to use natural bristles as the heat gun might melt synthetic bristles.

Michael, thanks a lot for the brilliant idea! Along with materials you used it also should be possible to use one of the chopsticks from the nearest Chinese for new brush handle. Korean style chopsticks would be even better, as they are normally thinner and better finished. And heat-shrink tubes of appropriate size would be good for fixing. (Can be obtained from any DIY store electric department)

Yes I agree, after going into a lot of detail how it is made, showing us work supposedly used to paint fine lines sure the obvious logical thing to have done was show it actually being used.
