Thats a great gift idea for a Christmas loving, coffee drinker. I never personally liked that drink myself. Maybe it needs a few "Chrismas" trees in the background.

You know, for getting a lot of holiday designs for this kind of thing, there's an option that works really well. Look at metal cookie cutters for the basic designs, get a sturdy block of wood that can cover the entire cutter along with a sheet of craft foam to cover the top of the wood. Use it like a normal stamp for leather. It might take a bit of time to get used to the specifics and you're going to need a larger mallet, but you can get some really good looks out of it with lower effort at that stage in speeding things up

Clamps work well in this case, as well. Clamp the board to your work surface with the stamp and leather in place, leave it for a few minutes and you should have a clean impression.

very cool stuff as usual Daniel...how often would you recommend re-casing the leather? I feel like mine always dries out super fast

If you have a misting bottle, you can re spray it with water as it gets too dry. I hope that helps.

Typically you want to look at the color the leather is producing and how well its moving. If its not moving as much as when it was cased properly, or if its producing less burnish, then you'd want to re-case it. One way you can extend the time between casing, is to add moisture to the back of the leather. The downside to this trick, is that it can make taping the back of the project difficult. Its a balance between adding enough to dampen it from the back, but not so much that the tape wont stick. Hope that helps!
