That is my dream item, always wanted to have such a thing in my wardrobe. It turned out absolutely adorable. Also, your videos are so calm. Maybe you’ll do one about how you style capelet? I’d love to see that!
So darned cute! And we can tell that you are not only delighted, but surprised at how much you liked the way it turned out. Being surprised that I like something I make is a familiar, if infrequent, outcome of my sewing attempts. It's like you are gingerly trying to ice skate across a pond, and amazed you got through it without falling on your behind.
Wow, that turned out well! I made a wool cape for my Mom for Christmas and top stitched the edges of the cape and around the collar. It really made it look much tidier, more professional, and less poofy.
I LOVE that you've gravitated towards becoming a sewing channel. Your videos are so relaxing, I typically fall asleep the first watch. And I also love sewing, so the second watch is so inspiring! Please keep making more!
You are so adorable and totally enjoy your originality ! I modified my cap last week too! So yes the finished product worked better than i thought but it took some fun and brain power to switch up what i did! 😅
The button placement is so perfect! I can see them in the closer shots of the finished capelet, but from farther away I couldn’t even tell where they were!
Yes! When she mentioned making the collar, I thought oh jeeze, collars are ridiculously complex. She did a good job without all the extra bits used in Bernadette's video
At first i thought that the pants you made and were wearing during the end was a skirt you made! That would be such a cute A line skirt idea, with the buttons on the side like that in that grey colour. I wish I were more motivated to take up sewing!!
@Loepsie These are great for formal/dressy events if you don't want to wear a bra or cami with your gown/cocktail dress! You can keep your chest area covered and look super classy at the same time!
This is really cuteee❤️ I actually own something like that but to stay indoors. The fabric is really soft, almost like a blanquet, and i wear it when i'm using the computer or working, because it keeps me warm and it is really comfortable. It also has a hood and looks supernice. Maybe you don't want something like that, but it's what has reminded me of 🤣
Such a gorgeous piece bravo! You are the first RU-vid channel I actually watched and followed regularly for years. You are so authentic and natural! I love and always will love your content :) all the best,
I love this, and especially the collar. Oh, and the pattern matching. I bought two little capelets in Turkey ten years ago and have worn them all winter every winter since.
it looks so good! I would love to live in a cold country so I could use this kind of clothing.. If you still want to reduce a little more of the bulk, try top stiching all the edges.
Hey! Lucy! How are you? I was looking for the next video .It's looking great I love the color. And the buttons I really love it. You are the person who make me happy . you are an inspiration for me to be creative . I love your all videos. I think it's my next project.
This looks amazing, I now want to make one too!! A way to help deal with the "ploofy"ness is to understich the lining and undercollar. It'll help the seams lay flatter.
Super cute! You could try understitching if you wanted the layers to stay flat. but it does look cozy the way it is :) this is also my list of things to make
Oh god! A cape/capelet is also on my project list. Luckily I don't mind having the form of a traffic cone, although I recently saw a cape with like holes for a belt under the arms/around the waist, as to give it a more fitted look? We'll see :) Thanks so much for the video!
That's really cute, love it and has inspired me to make one, just have to wait for buttons to arrive. How about a Miss Marple type longer tweed one that has a belt round the middle with cut through holes in the fabric?
@@Quntah888 Gertie, or Gretchen Hirsch, is a pattern designer and sewist. She just did a capelet pattern on her patreon and it was awesome, definitely a great gal to follow, if you like 50s and 60s fashion :) fun that this idea has originated in at least two different places on youtube! Capelets are coming back, I guess :D
I love it ❤ I want to make one for me but I don't have a pattern. I will search on google, maybe I find something similar. I feel so motivated to sew right now 😅 I'm still a beginer. I just made a circle skirt and some alterations here and there.
I've recently started sewing again after doing a bit with my great aunt as a kid (she's 90 now and an amazing seamstress who worked in a clothing factor in the 40s and 50s!). I have the WORST spatial awareness when it comes to patterns and how everything fits together....... Putting the sleeves in my dress today took way longer than it needed to and gave my aunt a good laugh! I just don't get it!
I’m surprised you didn’t decide to join the #ADCapeCult. That cape would have definitely kept definition at the waist, without making it any shorter. Also, I just love the design, and I’d love to make one for myself. Though I’ve heard that bustier people do have to mock it up quite a bit to have it fit properly.
I think that’s a nice idea! Even doing a high-low cape would work well in my opinion. More warmth for the arms but still showing off the waistline detail of the outfit underneath. I suppose though it would look not ideal from the back. Hmm I still think it’d be nice.
Very cute! I think the collar turned out perfectly. You’re going to get a lot of wear out of this piece. Caplets are perfect for when it isn’t super cold, but you need a little something.
I love this capelet! It actually reminded me of a vintage pattern I saw on Reddit just now. The pattern is basically a circle skirt, but it is drafted in a way that has very little waist. Reddit - sewing - Interesting near-zero-waste Russian circle skirt pattern (1960): anyone made this, or able to help translate the instructions? www.reddit.com/r/sewing/comments/g2il98/interesting_nearzerowaste_russian_circle_skirt/ I don't have the body for this type of skirt any more, but it would be adorable on someone like you, and I think it would be an interesting thing to make.
