My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.
You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and home & interior videos.
Enjoy browsing!
Love,
Lucy

A little tip: I find that if I spray antistatic or Febreeze (a spray to remove odors from fabric) on my polyester skirt it slides better and doesn't make the crinkle sound as much. Love your content ❤️

Consider it a beautiful wearable mockup? Even if you don’t get a lot of wear out of it because of the scratchy fabric, you now have a wonderful dress pattern that you can remake any time you find nice fabric!

Hand sewing in zippers- a woman after my own heart! I find it so much easier to hand sew when accuracy is needed. Also, though your personalities are very different, and you’re more soothing and calming than her chaotic good energy, I find that your attitude to sewing (and lack of mock-ups) and wanting to try things out and just go for it, is very similar to that of Rachel Maksy. I genuinely respect both of you for that. I’m much more timid- the cutting anxiety is real! And I will do mock-ups over and over again until everything is perfect, then transfer that perfect mock-up to pattern paper, before I cut into my fashion fabric. The methodical way does work for me, but it takes forever! Especially as I’m really slow to begin with (I either hand stitch most things, or I can only spend an hour at most at the machine and cutting table per day, due to disability). So it means instead of making a garment in a few days, it can take me months. I wish I was a bit more adventurous with my fashion fabric, but I think that is also a side effect of being a poor, and not being able to buy new fabric if I make a mistake, and feeling awful about wasting money if I have. But I watch your videos (and Rachel’s videos) and I wish that I had more of that “just give it a go” attitude. Especially as it usually turns out very well for you both.

I hate doing zippers, I can never get them looking good. I never thought you could hand sew them in. I'm going to give that a try with a new 50's dress I've been planning to sew for the wife.

I buy second hand sheets etc and use them for my sewing - no one would know that they cost me $5
@katherinemorelle7115
@katherinemorelle7115 3 года назад
@@rapi6099 I’m a huge fan of secondhand bedsheets! I made a summer banyan using a couple of cotton bedsheets that belonged to my great grandmother (they were too small to fit on a modern single bed), and I’m just about to make an 18th century petticoat out of a brown bedsheet I got for $3 at my local op shop. They’re definitely the cheapest way to get decent yardage, and there’s plenty of 100% cotton bedsheets about (I refuse to use polyester- I live in a hot and humid climate and wrapping myself in plastic is not a great idea!)

I am very comfortable with sewing bags/bagpacks and booksleeves but I am scared of making clothes. And also I wish my sewing was so calming hahah I am a sewing chaos 😆
