We got a magnificent sculpture from a friend's shop in Egypt, but it needed a base, or a display stand, so it would stand right. So we made one, from exotic leopardwood and padauk wood.
The statue was made at the workshop of Imhotep Alabaster Luxor, in the West bank of the Nile, in Luxor, Egypt. You can see more of their works on their Facebook page, and you can contact them there or Mohamed directly if you see something you like. 😉

This is not a sponsored video, we paid with our own money for everything in it.

The types of wood I've learned about because of your work are so beautiful. And this project is such a beauty.

I love how beautiful the different woods are and how well they work together. The shellac was just icing on the cake.

There is so much beauty to be found in those different kinds of wood.

It’s neat watching wood turn color after varnish is added to it. For projects such as this are they mostly something you made just because you felt like it or is it a commission? Either way you make such wonderful things!

Thanks! 😊 This project was for myself, since I needed a stand for the sculpture. 😉

I like the choice of wood. I worried a bit at first as they look similar (because of lighting in the video?), but in the end the contrast is good.

Yeah the lighting wasn't ideal sometimes but also the camera really wasn't picking up the colors right. Later I found it was using HDR for everything and muddling up the colors. 😢

@@SculptyWorks I see, in the end I can see the contrast and reddish tone quite clearly.

Another beautiful work! Leopard wood looks interesting. Where does it come from? I mean, from what geographical area?

It comes from Central and South America, and surprisingly it is not an endangered species. 😊
