Something totally different and I liked it mate, this will make things so much easier for you when it comes to cleaning down parts to refurbish them, not just on the Impreza but future projects

Thanks mate, it really is going to make a huge difference on projects going forward untill I can justify a real one 🤣

Thanks, i have a 50L 14.6cfm compressor from SGS Engineering

@@DavidMcBay What?😯 Can you sandblast with this capacity? The engine's probably still running, right?
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay 9 месяцев назад
@@vdsmade thats correct, its not ideal but as i only use it for very small parts its not running for too long.

@@DavidMcBay I'm asking because I'm thinking about buying a 150l compressor and I'm curious how often the engine will run with such a tank 🤔 because 200l is already a big colossus
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay 9 месяцев назад
@@vdsmade I wish i had the space for a larger capacity unit! I have been considering going upto the 100L but dont know if the overall gain is worth it. 200L would be a huge tank

I gave up on using lexan since it became so scratched you couldn't see, plus lexan is expensive. I switched to real glass. works great.

I have noticed that, I haven’t used it much since building it but in the short time the Screen has become very hazy.

Thanks for the video. I was planning on making the same kind of cabinet myself. I'm retired and looking into refurbishing items like old tools , toys, etc. there are quite a few people showing their work on Facebook. Gives me something to do. Great video.
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay Год назад
Thanks for watching Pete, if you do manage to build one I would say either buy yourself a respirator or make sure it has an extremely good seal as the last thing you want is to be breathing in any of the dust.
@exfedex1396
@exfedex1396 Год назад
@@DavidMcBay Thanks for the reminder about the respirator. I looked at the cabinet at Hardor Frieght and might just go that way. I find as I am in my late 60's, building things like I use to do is getting more difficult. Time to look at letting go of the " I'm 50 and can build most anything ". 🙂

Dave, you need to have a metal lining inside of the cabinet or it won't last very long. If you can find a better media to use than sand, like walnut shells, garnet or even reusable steel grit it will be better for your health. Sand is banned in the Blasting industry in the UK because of silicosis mate.
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay Год назад
Yeah mate I’ve already binned this, it done me for the parts I needed to blast but I’ve been looking at proper cabinets now. I didn’t use sand mate, used glass and allways wore a respirator when using it. It was a decent wee cabinet for the small amount of parts I needed to do but it wasn’t long before you could hardly see though the window 🙈

For £20 and a couple of hours that actually turned out pretty well... It'll be spot on for the off tidy up, good job mate... ... Gloves were a.... Different .. approach 😋🤣 Seriously though, good effort 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay 2 года назад
Thanks Mark, Yeah the gloves arnt the best effort, I need to find some flanged pipe that I can put the gloves over instead of trying to stretch them but for the time being and until I can justify spending the money on a proper set up it will do.

I hope you haven't been using sand in that cabinet without wearing a respirator. Even if you sealed it up very good, you will still get tons of silica dust in your lungs, which will literally kill you. It's called Silicosis and a friend of mine nearly died because his lungs filled with fluid from being shredded by silica dust.
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay 2 года назад
Yeah I noticed that after the very first test where there was a fair bit of dust, I do a lot of spray painting so use the same mask for both activities. I appreciate the comment tho and will pop a sentence in the description of this so others will see it 👍
