Would be good if you made a replica of a 1970s adidas"Peter black" bag. They look good as they are, but in leather it would be outstanding. Beautiful craftsmanship man.
Superb man, this really is such a high quality video and such an informative one. I will be making one myself during the furlough holidays. Love from India, bbye.
Riktigt imponerande arbete.
Super cool project, Swedish Maker! Im planning to do a bag aswell, not sure if its going to be leather only or maybe with some textile mixed into it. Anyway, this was great inspiration also to see some of the pioneer mistakes as amateur-ish. Great job.
Yeah sorry about that. It has been set back a bit because of poor planning. I hope to be able to make it sometime before Christmas though. The design wont differ that much other than size and a few addons and perfections.
@@TheSwedishMaker Thanks for the reply really love the look just thinking to change a few things myself. I am thinking of adding a zipper to one side to have an internal pocket and also sewing the handles inside of the outside leather sides for a more stream line look that will only have handled visible.
hi I just bought the duffel bag pattern and I got the instructions but no pattern. Im able to open the instructions but no bag pattern. I cant wait to start my bag. please help me
Is that the Tandy chisel punch? It does get dull real quick if you don't have a poundo board or a low density polyethylene block. It is a bit of a pain. Nice bag though! Amazing work.
From a fellow Swede, I did a very similar leather bag 5 years ago, I think I counted almost 40 hours since the saddle stitching takes such a long time... and just like you, I thought, I will make another one which should be perfect (as I had similar issues with getting the hole-count wrong), now, my reflection is, I did not do the other bag.... ever.....But, now I live in UK and have a bit more space then when I lived in Hong Kong, and I just got a really nice piece of calf leather, so planning on doing one again. Did you ever do a second? Any template to share? The one I did before is a tad small, I would like to make a larger version... Anyhow, thanks for sharing, I noted the first comment you made "Today I will make a weekend bag" and I thought, wow, he will do my 40 hours in 1 day :) Cheers
Hey Peter! Always good to hear from fellow Swedes. I did make another bag, a bit smaller and with a few tweaks. Theres a video of it on my channel. On my website I have patterns for both bags, theswedishmaker.com It didnt take just one day thats for sure ;)
bro, I love that bag get some knee pads, and at least those holes are big enough and the thread is big enough you should see some of the jackets I hand Stitch... Sheesh! good job!
Hi! I have used lining in the past, but it was a long time ago. During the coming months I will make a new version of the bag and I might use lining on that.
Hi there I bought the pattern for this :-) I just wanted to check at 6 mins 12 in your video where you start stitching the strip to the zipper piece is that the middle of the longest edge or the middle of the shortest width on the strip piece on the pattern!? Hope I’m making sense ...but I don’t want to mess it up as actually stitching on the machine. Thanks in advance
Hi! Thanks for the purchase. It can be quite hard to explain so the best way to make sure you have it correct is laying it out and kind of bending it together, so that it makes sense. So - the middle of the zipper piece long side is supposed to go against the center of the long edge of the strip piece. Good luck in making the bag.
Ah so cool thank you. Was trying to Shazam and no joy :-) I just wanted to ask, how much leather do we need for your project. I have some leather I’ve been saving for a weekend bag but worried that the size of the pieces might be too large for it as I’d like to buy your template :-)
So I guess it all depends on what size you want to make it. The template is scalable so when printing it could be scaled down to match the size of the leather you have. The big piece is about 70x50cm and then the edge band is as big. The zipper piece is about 100x20 in total and then the straps. But like I said, it can be scaled a bit to make it smaller.
Hi! Thanks! I am trying to figure out how to draw it on the computer with exact measurements. Sign up for the newsletter on theswedishmaker.com to make sure to get notified once it is out there :)
Hej.
It was so big that I felt it would look a bit odd, but it could definately have a shoulder strap. The handles are big enough to through it up on the shoulder at least. :)
@@TheSwedishMaker Oh I see, I have never used these types of bag, Interested in getting one, but the one I am interested in did not have the shoulder strap just like the one on the video. Maybe I do not need shoulder strap. The one in the video looks good though.
So the diameter of the middle part with the zipper is the same as the big part that make up the sides. I made templates in photoshop prior to making the bag and printed on a4 sized paper that I taped together.
