I don't know about you, but I definitely needed a vibrant, color blocked, 1960s style dress in my wardrobe. This project delivered exactly that, in true Barbie fashion!

This comment was so interesting to me because it really looks so much like the Dominican flag! I was wondering when the republic was formed in its current state and did some research and discovered the Fourth Republic was formed in 1966 and this Barbie was from the 60’s. Such a strange coincidence. If barbies were available in the DR at that time I’m sure this one meant a lot to a few little girls. If not, then maybe to some who emigrated to the US mainland at least.

I remember years ago (back in the 90s) there was a talk show in which fans of Barbie were featured and it included a woman who made life size versions of Barbie fashions (and Skipper too!). I found it fascinating to see what life sized looked like. It was nice to see you do the same and with a very colorful dress as well! Well done!

When I was three years old my grandmother from England made me a beautiful pink dress and jacket and a matching one for the Barbie she got for my birthday it was absolutely wonderful. You making this dress reminded me of that.

You could totally take after Bernadette and sew on extant pockets that are hidden in the gathers and are connected to the waist hem so that it doesn't weigh it down when you put anything in the pocket

I'm curious if she dislikes all pockets for skirts or just poorly placed pockets 🤔 because a well placed pocket doesn't bulge or distort shape and is soooo liberating 😄

McCall’s already has & she has several patterns out through them. I have almost all of them & they are wonderful. You can find them anywhere McCall’s patterns are sold.

I was born in 1956 and received a brunette 2nd run Barbie. Decades later my mom had a doll expert polish her up & make a bridal gown. It's in a custom shadowbox and I love it still. Bottom line, I adore your Barbie replicate vidros!💕💖💕

I love how you explain seeing terms and techniques as you vlog. Very helpful. Also, you are THE FIRST person I've heard describe gathering and attaching it like you do (and I watch A TON of sewing videos!) I have always done it your way and can never understand why the instructions say otherwise. I think your shallower hem works perfectly with the rick rack trim. Your analysis and thoughts on the project seem spot on. What a fun dress!

I have a lifelong admiration for vintage Barbie. I love this series. I understand it would be quite a challenging project but I would love for you to do #1646 Magnificence. It's one of my absolute favorite Vintage Barbie fashions. The design of the skirt/coat is very unique and the flocked floral design on the pink chiffon just screams vintage Barbie to me.

It’s a lovely dress! I grew up in the 60’s and I think the front neckline is a little high. It’s a boat neck which goes across the top of your collarbones.

Hi Angela! I love your sewing videos and sewing vlogs, I've probably watched and rewatched all of them by now (: I love your videos so much because what you're doing is always very well explained, funny and genuine, not to mention the garments you make are absolutely beautiful! I also love that you make such elaborate things with basically just a straight stitch on your machine and hand sewing, it really inspires me to use what I know and have on hand to make something really nice, so I'm going to try and sew my own dress for a friends wedding this year. I know theres like a million youtube tutorials on the stitches you use regularly (slip/ladder, whip, hem stitching), but if you ever had the time/desire to make your own I think that'd be really cool!!
