Chris Hunt UK - we make our covers half and inch finished smaller than the cushion form. This makes the cushion (pillow) fill all the corners and plumper in appearance especially when feathers are used for the filling. Your directions were very easy to follow, now I know what to do with hubby's old ties!

Wow, I wish I found you, before I read/ attempted/started the current memory quilt I'm working on! I tried too hard to follow the instructions, and that didn't leave room for me to think outside-the-box when things weren't working as planned. Sigh...Looking forward to other videos. 💜

Love this, I'm going to make 3 of these for a family that lost their father. Did you hand sew the last piece on and how did you determine the size of the lines all around?

Thank you for your kind words, glad you enjoyed my video. The last pieces were turned under and top stitched down to save me the trouble of hand stitching. The size of the lines all around were determined by the size of the square I started with . After determining the center point in the square , I just drew lines from the perimeter through the center point to the other side until I had a pleasing amount of wedges. Hope this info helps. Hello- I drew the pattern I wanted. see video at minute 3:45 . Then used that as a guide to sew each piece the correct size and shape. Its a slow process, but it comes out nice. Good luck! Enjoy!

How big did you make the ties to fit? Just make them big enough to fit the muslin template you made?

Yes, I used the widest parts I could and made them for my template.

These are beautiful I am going to make some with my dads ties could I ask please when you assemble the 2 pieces did you put in a zip or did you seal the pillow in.

Hello- I am so glad you are going to make one of these pillows. They really come out nice and have such a nice sentiment attached. To answer your question, I did not put in a zipper. The finished fabric panels are quite bulky so I chose to just slip stich the opening closed. if I ever want to wash the pillow covering or add more stuffing, I have no problem with snipping it open and stitching it closes again.
