I show by basic and simple process for developing a pattern and a working prototype for in this case a cross body bag or fanny pack. This is the same basic process I use for all the bags I make.
I make all kinds of Industrial Sewing Machine videos and more. Check out my channel / alexanderdyer

I was first interested in this vid because of the title. But my attention quickly changed when I saw the material you chose to use. I know so many people around the world that would absolutely love that bag just because you used everyone’s favorite sushi rice bag. And that it’s recycled material. So many items can be made from that material. You might just be on to something there my friend 😉

I would also put the buckles close to the tabs for easier on and off, excellent job!🎉

Nice simple basic bag. Please do a bit more crinkling of the fabric next time - I love the sound!! It's very relaxing.

One thing I’d suggest… Sew headliner material (foam bonded to fabric… available at upholstery supply stores for cheap) to the material at the same time as assembling and it gives more body, pushes the outside material more taught and makes nice liner inside as well as provides a little cushion for contents.

Serious! Except the upholstery supply shop in my town is terribly expensive 😔

Visiting a construction site using Tyvek house wrap is a good source for prototyping materials for projects like this. I usually just dig it out of their dumpster. I also use a cheap canvas tarp that I bought from Harbor Freight for my prototypes. Worked out to about $1.24 per yard. To beat the fraying I run all the pieces through my serger. When the muslin is done, then my grandkids get them. They never turn down a bag.😂 Always enjoy your videos! Thanks for sharing with us. DigBags

@@chrismontoya4266see if you can find a discount fabric place. These people go in and buy out the surplus from manufacturing. A lot of manufacturing has moved to foreign countries and left warehouses full of materials to dispose of here in the US.

I make a prototype using kraft paper for the initial body shape to see if it's the size I want it to be. Often resize up or down at that stage before committing any material to something I may not like :)

What do you think of the consew 2972 and the axis 2972. I like the idea of a manual machine with out the cost of the master cub, tippman or cowboy machines
