On this video I'm making a micro sized Tesla turbine motor that is being currently powered by compressed air. I'm already surpised by its performance, the torque seems to be sufficient to power a small generator and produce some useful amounts of electricity. All tests made with compressed air at 30psi. I'm really curious to see what it can do on steam.
I'd like to apologize for the assembly of the rotor itself for not appearing on the video, it's becasue for some reason the footage was way blurry and was absolutely not watchable.
Some interesting information about this Tesla turbine.
- The rotor has 12 discs (20mm diameter) with 0.18mm spacing.
- Clearance from the housing is 0.1mm.
- Clearance from the end caps is 0.18mm.
- Uses 2 micro bal bearings 2x5x2.5mm.

what should you do with it in your next video? Put it under a friggin' load! No one seems to feel like bothering to actually properly measure the efficiency of these blasted things. I don't care how many RPMs the thing gets when it isn't doing any work. Instead, show me how efficiently it transforms pressure into rotational motion. And for that, a load is required. It has to do actual work. I would really love that.
@LL.Johnson
@LL.Johnson 8 лет назад
+verdatum Need steam for load
@verdatum
@verdatum 8 лет назад
Nah. compressed air is sufficient to put it under load. These days, only bother with steam if you're addicted to that particular world. Else, compressed air causes so many fewer headaches.
@wickedprotos1937
@wickedprotos1937 8 лет назад
By load, he means mechanical load on the output shaft, not the driving fluid( ie air, steam, water, etc)

Robert Daggett aww, come on. Lee was only trying to help Terrible One understand. No need to be patronizing to someone for that. (though I must admit that using "your" instead of "you're" is good wholesome classic trollbait)

You have some mad skills. Thanks for the videos. I recommend you look into the tesla valve and put it on the intake as Tesla intended, Next add a miniature glow plug at the gas inlet, and then fire it up the way Tesla intended as a (I think model engine fuel) gas powered turbine. Tesla thought once it got warmed up the glow plug ignition could be shut down. Or, be totally over the top and set up a GEET reactor feed that uses non-petrol fuels, like root-beer or pickle juice. (OK, that may take some development before you put it on your turbine. The GEET reactor may require you use all iron materials for the rotor and housing, and put a slight magnetic charge on them to keep them from being destroyed by the gas. Building a miniature GEET reactor from iron stock would be a project on its own with two concentric tubes, central rod and everything vacuum tight.) Really beautiful work. Kudos.

Heh, that's actually a pretty neat setup to make precision bushings out of spec stock sheet metal. :) . If you screw a cutter blade on to a piece of wood 1 cm high, then score the drink can on the sides top and bottom, lightly pressing in the score will separate the top and bottom from a perfectly cut cylinder. You could do this to get a really nice housing for example. If you remove the brass nipple at the end of the antenna, all the sections come off in one piece. Then you just need to chuck it in the lathe and lightly score it with a cutter as it spins.

What I would like to see that this turbine is combined with a double core spherical reactor. Filed with 2 different liquid plasmas. This turbine will not magnetically interfere with the reactor core. So it will allow to let the fields buildup in the cores.

Very delicate work! Itself I am engaged the Tesla in the turbine not the first year. I want to share experience. For diameter of a rotor 20mm an optimum gap - 0,1-0,12mm. Also you have too larger height of a nozzle, with such diameter it should not exceed 1-1,5mm. And the last, you have big resistance on escaping of a rotor. If you unite the exhaust opening in oval and will increase diameter of exhaust pipes - it will be one many better. Section of exhaust pipes has to be a little more, than the cooperative section of the exhaust opening of a rotor from each party. I hope, my experience will be for you the useful. Optimum working turns of the turbine with such rotor 200000-220000 RPM. On such turns the turbine will show a maximum power. Thanks for your fine work.
@johnnyq90
@johnnyq90 8 лет назад
+Tesla Tech Hey thanks! I was actually going to enlarge the exhaust pipes to see if it helps a little. As for the nozzle, you mean it should be 1-1,5mm in all its length, or at its end only?
@TeslatechUa
@TeslatechUa 8 лет назад
+johnnyq90 Nozzle height at the end. Judging by your video, width of a nozzle is about 10-12 mm, and height is 2,5-3 mm. And so height has to exceed 1,5 mm, a maximum - 2 mm, but also it is more narrow much. The nozzle height relation to diameter of a rotor is visible on one of my turbines -www.teslatech.com.ua/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=47
@johnnyq90
@johnnyq90 8 лет назад
+Tesla Tech Thank you for your quick response. The nozzle is actually 6mm in diameter.
@TeslatechUa
@TeslatechUa 8 лет назад
+johnnyq90 Today once again very attentively I revised this video. In that fragment where you show production of a nozzle, it is visible that at the exit of a nozzle the rough step, directly before an entrance to a rotor was formed. It very strongly influences efficiency, the nozzle has to be made very accurately inside, without agnail, jags, and any other obstacles. Otherwise at the exit from a nozzle there is a strong turbulence, and because of they are very big losses of kinetic energy of a current of air.
@johnnyq90
@johnnyq90 8 лет назад
+Tesla Tech I just finished making the nozzle. After a lot of testing, I ended up narrowing it to 1mm and I have to say it has almost doubled its performance! Thank you for your advice!
