Not gonna lie my man, I've had this piece of gear for yeeeeaaaaars and basically gave up in my search for help. I've learned more from you in a few minutes than I have in the past 10+ years. Thanks bud!
Hi! I have a problem, maybe you can help me with the solution. Today I went to my saved projects and tried to load one, but the display showed an error "unknown file format". When I tried to load a folder, I found that the project was missing the "Program" file, which is responsible for the project program. This problem happened to almost all my projects. I did not connect Akai to the computer, did not change any settings. Samples, settings, etc. were saved, but all sequences and songs became empty, assigned pads disappeared. What could be the reason for this? (There are "Program" files in each project, but they seem to be broken, and Akai stopped reading them, and when trying to load a "Program" file, Akai shows an error)
Ok i just figured how to full level it and hear at full volume but how come now its all at one velocity? Is there a way to get these pads to be extra sensitive so i could for example play some realistic hiats? *edit* i see ur using "sample level" how did you get to that? at 1:02 you do something but idk what
So if you want to be able to do different velocities its actually very simple, there are 2 ways to do it. The first way (and the one i use the most) is by clicking the button called '12 levels' which is just under the cursor controls and the same as the 'Do it' button. After you click this it will then ask you to select which sample you want to use (so select the pad that you have your hi hats on) and then click 'do it'. Now the different velocities should be spread across the whole pad bank and you can play in different pads to play different velocities, pad 12 is the loudest and pad 1 is the lowest. to then get out of this mode just click the '12 levels' button again. The second way is by clicking the button next to that called 'Full level' and a red light should turn off. This means that the pads are touch/velocity sensitive and you do actually have to hit them a bit harder than you think to reach the highest velocity. I dont use this as much as the first method but they are equally as good, its just preference. Hope this helped, sorry for being a bit slow on the reply and thanks for checking out the vid!
Mode+load, then scroll through the menus that represent the contents of your card until you find the sound you want. Once you’ve found it, press the ‘do it’ button and then hit the pad you want to assign it to. Press ‘do it’ again and it should be loaded.
hmm, I have issues with my sequences. I already copied them and used "Track Mute", but this saving method only gives me 1 sequence, and the other track mute are gone. Also, when I load the sequences back, some sample have their name twisted with a "?" (ex : ?Sample1), which disables the sample. Then I have to go look for it in the CF card again. Any ideas ?
to be honest i really have no idea what's going on there, nothing like that has ever happened to me with my MPC. if you want another sequence then you have to flash the cursor over where it says 'Sequence 01' and then scroll to the right and it says 'unused'. Then as soon as you start to do any work (such as change the tempo) it should create a new sequence for your question about the samples with question marks next to them i have no ideas on how to fix that. Sorry!
Maybe you can help me again! how can i connect my mpc500 to Logic X? i can send midi messages from computer to mpc, but i can't send midi messages from mpc to Logic X. Hope you can help me, thanks!
im not sure if the mpc 500 has the same midi standards as computers today, i've never tried to do this so i'm not totally sure what the problem is but you might need to buy a midi interface so that it all runs through one system
@@ThaREC Hi and thanks, I tried with two interfaces because I thought the problem was my Presonus, Logic X receives and sends the midi messages, but does not record the midi tracks. I had a similar problem with the Microkorg, but I solved it. Thanks! keep it up!
thanks for checking it out! my next tutorial is coming in about a week about chopping up samples but ive got lots more mpc 500 content one the way aswell
To stop the top gun project loading you can go into 'Mode+Load' and then scroll across until it says 'autoload' and then change that to off. As for loading your work back up, check that you have selected the whole folder when your loading it rather than just the program (that won't include anything like the samples or sequence)
@@ThaREC got my first drum loop going yesterday thanks to you tho! I chopped up impeach the president on the MPC and tracked it out, wish it would've saved lol
