He's selling himself short. That beat is nice. Especially considering what he made it from. Black Milk. Underrated. Brilliant producer. Maybe the closest we got to Dilla still out there. I'm not saying he's Dilla, and I'm not saying there aren't better producers, but as far as his sound and his skillset, he's clearly a Dilla disciple that crafted his own lane.

9th is his own pillar. Milk from the D, far more influenced by Dilla and his influences. Hard to pin anybody to 9th cause his sound changed alot over the years.

***** its not sampling holding hiphop back its how cats are doing if thats what you mean or if im worng let me know. But sampling is fine as long as dudes get creative wit h it and not just loop the main sounds of that sample. for example listen to DJ Premiers beats or Kanye's. they sample but they're so creative with their chop game and add so much shit to it you for get its a sample. When Jermain Dupri made jump he sampled just the first 2 notes of the bassline to the jackson 5 "give me one more chance" and added the rest. Dudes got to stop thinking all cause they chopped a sample and put it in a different order that they're finished and its hot.

I say Black Milk is number 1 cause he really didnt have shit. 9th and Nottz came into the series when they let them pick the albums they were gonna use.

mrpostman730 Yeah, but they didn't let 9th or Nottz pick their own records. The whole format of the show is to force beat makers to make something out of nothing. Look at 9th's again. he talks about the country record being a winner and so on. Nottz doesn't say anything about his selection but, everybody has to be blind folded. None of them have ever been able to choose their records.

not to mention madlib lol. i think I remember in an interview him saying he’d sample the WHOLE record start to finish sometimes. those two just have a work ethic that can’t be topped
