I know you said that project videos are not performing so well in terms of views, but I really enjoy them. I found this very interesting in both design and construction
Great video Keith, I'd love to see a video of you making stuff from reclaimed barrel staves, and any other small projects that could be made for selling. I am trying to find a market for selling home made wood projects.
I can't believe you didn't find a way to incorporate some material from the hat and coat stands into your hat and coat rack. Missed a trick there, mate. ;-)
Great video and another brilliant build. Love the birch ply and it’s good that you didn’t cut out the fact you done something wrong. Can’t get it right every time 👌🏻
These are the videos we all like, if it means for couple minutes you talk about a random app so you can keep making these, that would be fine as we'd all understand why
Another fabulous build. I saw your mitre recovery trick on William Ng channel. Great life saver for a critical project. I noticed streaks in your varnish, I use Gold Taklon artist brushes, 2-3 inches wide but only 1/4" thick and very flat (you can get angled brush too) and gives a very smooth finish with very little DeNibbing required between coats!
I love your videos mainly due to your honesty. We all make mistakes and its often how we recover from them that teaches us our most important lessons and skills. Well done mate. Looks great. Congratulations on 100k
*sad trombone noises* Still loving the videos, also really like your humility when it comes to admitting mistakes and not losing your rag over them! (I'd have nail-gunned the rack to the wall before realising the fixings were the wrong way up ;) )
@@RagnBoneBrown i was just thinking, that's it? it could've been so much worse! (i'm glad you don't see some of my mistakes! ha ha) anyway, great final result!
I knew straight away what you'd have done wrong the moment you asked us to guess. Which is particularly galling, because I take 3x longer than necessary, as I have to rectify all these kind of mistakes. Maybe we should spend a moment asking ourselves that same question before each project 🤣 xxx
You're not the only one: I have made a few quite simple boards, with keyhole slots on the back side, for ladies painting orthodox icons. Twice, different ladies, have they placed them upside down when painting!
Specifically ones using ply, because it's readily available here in the UK, or the salvaged materials one, because of the creative use of found materials :)
I am surprised that the project videos don't perform so well because everyone like to watch someone make something, don't they!! I for one am glad to see you doing them again!
Cracking build Keith, I personally love the look of birch ply I have about 4ft in my wood store and I'm saving it for a special day 🙈. The hallway looks really smart and modern. That mistake is definitely something I would do.
Good job and I like your entrance but wasn’t better and more lovely if you’ve made doors for it to hide the site of shoes specially it’s in the entrance?
i like the fact that you can joke about your mistakes...........it happens to all of us.............someday if you ever build a bridge and it collapses and kills a few people then you have something to feel bad about....for this project,,,,,,,,no sweat.......

Hello my friend. This is a beautiful design. Made with plywood Shoe Cabinet and Coat Hanger are very decorative. You did a good job. Congratulations. Warm hug. Yours truly.....
Adverts are fine buddy, if you wanna do them, do them. Hope this vid gets more views as it is a major project. I understand it's totally impractical to make a whole bunch of tables nobody is buying, but I like the big projects.
Congratulations on your 100K, I am happy that I am one of those. Great channel my friend! That tool to place along your track saw seems really handy. Very nicely made, you can be proud of your work. I saw you struggling with that plywood in the beginning. Can I give you a tip? A few weeks ago I made a handy tool to put plywood plates on my work table. Without any effort or effort. I have a video on my channel, no obligations of course.
Oh please tell me I didn't see you knocking in a raw plug with the arse end of a power drill 😂😂😂😂😂. Oh and FYI I've never messed up on a build.. And when I say "never" I mean always. 😂😂😂
I think this build video will be much more popular then the previous ones you mentioned in your last vlog, simply cus it's a fantastic thing to have and will appeal to more people
Mistakes generate some kind of sub-atomic particles [known as 'buggerons'] They create a feeling of well being in the human brain leading to thoughts like, "This project is going very well," or, "That'll be fine." You obviously had Positive Buggerons because the problem was easily rectified. Neg B-ons lead to things like the jointer holes misaligning by 90* to each other - which I was praying you hadn't done. Turned out lovely though!
Dont mind me, im just having a keefykeef marathon. Well, ragnbone marathon 😂 hey i noticed the other day you had 231k subs and today you're at 232k. Thats awesome!
Nice video very well explained and yes the dance thing is recommended it keep the brush strokes in order and makes the job more enjoyable:) , May i ask you some questions please sorry if its a few things but your video was that good it bought up things for me which will help vastly!! :) . EQUIPMENT: what model of festool domino you have and what size domino did u use? What make/model is your table saw, which speed square do you use(mine is sooooo rubbish scared to buy another),,the wood filer which one is it? Lastly the masking tape it looks like some kind of other tape? Thank you in advance sir :),ps keep going
watched the whole video before i realized- "oh wait, Keith's actually building something with materials he paid for, not just stuff he picked out of a skip!" lol nice one, Keith, and thanks for not editing the mistakes out- i like the honesty of your approach
I use blue painters tape to continually remind myself top, bottom left or right becasue I make similar mistakes when I flip project over... or walk around the workshop table. My lefty/righty ruler helps keep my double checking accurate too. Now if I could only handle the mistakes as calmly as you. My wife asks why I curse at inanimate objects!
15:23 Jut build a little footstool, 20 to 30 mm in height, to put your shoes on top of while you put them on. Maybe build another one (different height) for Rita. They could be stored underneath the shoe rack when not in use. Great videos. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on 100K.
Something upside down, called it!! 😂 That's ok Keith, if I had to reattach my head every morning it would be upside down more often than not. At least it was a decent chuckle and an easy fix!! 👍
Hi, I’d love to see a video on plywood, I know it sounds daft but I find all the different types, thicknesses, number of ply, grades etc a bit confusing as well as what I should expect to be paying for a sheet and the best place(s) to buy it.
Great video as allways, been watching your videos for a good 2 years now and realised this is the first time I've commented 🤣🤣, but great to see us patreons getting those rewards
Great video! I think you want to put a back on the cabinet. I built a shoe rack before without a back and the wall behind it got really dirty from all the shoes bumping against it.
Looks beautiful! The wife and I love using 3/4" birch plywood for projects. Any chance of a video on the mentioned kitchen work tops, or did I miss it? We're looking at some type of wood top counters for our kitchen.
So, I've been intrigued by videos from the US where they use 'wipe on poly'. Which isn't available here in the independent UK. So I thought I'd try normal varnish. So, with Liberon water based varnish I tried , after a first coat, brush applied, then heavily sanded, lots of coats, applied with a cloth, very thin, very quick drying in consequence, giving a fantastic finish. You should try with your varnish. But, watching your video, maybe better with smaller project? I decided to support you as in Patreon as a result of much watching of your channel. I'd just done it when... - that mistake. Was the my support based on a misrepresentative idea of your skills?
Thanks, yeah I have used that method before, I watered down the varnish a little and wiped it on, it works well for sure 👍 i agree on a bigger project like this it would be a lot of extra work
Congratulations on the plaque for 100k. Fair play to youtube for sending these out to give the people that feeling of accomplishment. Bet in the early days the thought process was like "well im.just gonna grab some scrap timber that hadn't rotted yet and show some people how to make something half decent out of it" Next thing ya know 100 thousand people on the planet are saying to you let me know what you do next! Love your approach to the channel and your calmness you present throughout the channel. Could be the Norfolkness! Got family from my Dad's side who all live there and everyone is always calm! Great video. Was saying in another comment how much I like birch ply, it's criminally underused in the UK! All the best, thumbs up.
Can I ask which builders merchant you got the birch ply from as I’m not far from Norwich (Horsey out on the coast) and so far I haven’t been able to find decent birch ply locally. Thanks
I believe that all timber merchants get it from the same source tbh. But I'm not sure which supplier was used in this instance as it was ordered by the guys doing the work on our home
Brilliant build Keith, i don't think anyone makes something that is 100% right, there's always going to be something you did that was wrong. So i took 2 and a half days to complete, are you talking about the build or the amount of time it took to put all those shoes in?, who has all those shoes no wonder the build was that big ha ha ha. Take Care, Barry (Wirral, ENG)
How do you find the mft top protectors is that the benchdog UK ones Keith? Looking forward to seeing the kitchen worktops in the birch mate I love the edges of birch ply. The entrance hall looks class just my style mate all the best 👍
Dance AND sing along to the radio. Only when the camera is off though... Oh yeah, and I guessed right... My condolences! I'm kind of amazed that the plywood is strong enough to sit on without a back on the unit. It's quite a long span.
I think it's due to the bracing on the leg assembly that gives it the strength as it's all glued and screwed to the bottom panel 👍 if you sit in the middle there is a tiny bit of flex in it but it's not an issue
It would certainly strengthen it, although it's not really needed, there is a tiny amount of flex in the unit of you sir in the centre but generally the braces which are glued and screwed to the bottom keep it rigid 👍
