I think your husband do good jobs for you. Anyone can't do every thing and anyone has his merit. I don't make money. My wife does. So I love her much more. Sorry.
Buy a good routher table and raised panel router bits.....It's much less work and you will actually get a much better fit with the rails and styles. The call it cope and stick....Just a thought for the future....I admire your craftsmanship !!!!
I honestly dont know why i never though to just nail on some small boards for shelfing before joining everything together, usually id use a router but that runs the risk of having ugly joints if you screw up, or your wood isnt planed perfectly, another really helpful tip.
Could I ask why you divided the door into half the tall way as well and not just do 2 long doors? Is it for aesthetic purposes or would the door not close properly if it is too long?
If you use the raised panel router bits you can fit the corners of the rails and styles, glue them and then pin nail them thru the back side eliminating the edge screws and holes. I use a 23 gauge pin nailer on the backside of the door......invisible to the eye....
Beautiful work, I think I'll try and make one. By the way, what is the title of the song that plays at the end of the video? It's a really relaxing tune.
@@j-woodworking9573 Thank you, I'll try and find it. If you make another on of these shoe racks, add the measurements so we can try and make it without to much guess work.
These are just tips and tricks I learned please do not take anything I post here as a negative. Drill the pocket holes for the hinges before you build the door on a drill press with a jig. Every hole comes out more accurate and you can set a stop on the drill press for the depth so all the holes are the same depth....Just the tricks of the trade someone else taught me.
The problem I have with this is that when he drills countersinks, he just drills the most shallow spot for the head of the screw. Then, screws in 2" screws all the way through with no pre-drilling the holes.
That is not a shoe rack, you give yourself too little credit. Racks don't have fancy things like hinges or door panels, the word rack needs to be upgraded severely. A better word than Shoe Cupboard. It is a full blown Kitchen Class: Shoe Cabinet
