Before you attached the petals it looked like a 16th century beekeeper suit, sort of a Silent Hill or Dark Souls looking kind of thing that's simple but unnerving. I love that even when your builds are half finished they already look awesome 😁 thank you for all the inspiration and techniques!
Love the bit about just doing things the dumb way sometimes. I just recently had a conversation where I encouraged exactly that kind of thinking. It was a "Can we make this faster?" Conversation, and my response was "yeah, but it'll take at least a month, and if we do it the slow way, it'll be done sooner than that."
I tell my difficult clients "Fast, cheap and good. You can pick two". When you have someone at his skill level making your mask, you've picked fast and good!
4:22 That's what my Dad does. I'll be working on something, try to explain it to him while he's helping me locate the materials, and then talks my ear off about, "Well what about this? Or maybe you could..." "Dad, it's already done. Don't overcomplicate it."
I have the opposite problem. I come up with better ways after I did it that would have been faster/more economical. I save my problem solving for before I go to sleep now so that i can go through a few iterations of an idea before I come to the best one. It also helps me go to sleep when my mind is racing so i always have a project to problem solve.
Allen, I'm firmly convinced that you can make anything out of anything. And thanks for teaching me a new word: trypophobia. I knew what it was, but never knew there was a name for it.
I love your commentary, getting up in the morning you with a cup of coffee is hard to beat. As an artist myself, I make creepy fine art, though I hate that fricken term but heck I am stuck with it I am always inspired by your process. You are such a cool, dude!!!! I wanna reach through the screen and give you a big smoooosh! You go guy I am a fan or ever!
I was in a huge room with an open garage door, it was fine- and I need to make room up there- I figure the fumes kill the weaker brain cells first- making me smarter ;)
Great video. Can I offer a safety suggestion? Do you normally use a face mark when working with contact cement? My step father was a cobbler who worked with contact cement regularly. A few years ago he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer. It was most likely because he worked with contact contact. Now whenever I see someone using it without a mask that’s rated for chemical exposure I feel I need to spread awareness of it. I would hate for someone to go through what he did.
What a fantastic build! Thank you so much for putting this out there with the process. It is very very inspirational if you had laser, would you angle the foam in the laser cutter to get the beveled cuts?
Did I tell you I'm working on a tall pumpkin man. I'm using black foam matts for the head will orange spray paint be ok for the head. Cool video where did you get that green stuff.
