In this episode we start our bathroom project off by creating a Roman tub. Think indoor hot tub with tile. The concept is you create a very large water tight tile area that can be filled with water. It allows you to make a tub that can be nearly any size or shape you can imagine.

Does the tile have to be a certain type or require a certain rating?

Hello, did you need a special grout for this project or was it just a waterproof grout, is the bathtub still good or was it a bit ambitious, only asking cause I’m doing similar thing and all I hear is don’t do it

Why did you choose not to use an overflow drain?

Can the back be built at an angle? Straight up and down won't be very relaxing. Also...is it possible at all to add an overflow kit?

Yes for both

What’s the point of all the reinforced water proofing and then NOT using expoxy grout?? Crazy! Was the tub a fail? Since there isn’t any footage of the filled tub. Did you add a water heater?

Love your Roman Tub and all your designs. I'm trying to make a Roman Tub now but am having trouble with the drain configuration. Could you please share what you used and how you connected it up?

How is the tub holding up? I’ve heard paint-on membranes have a short life? I’m building a tub in my basement, inspired by this build, and am looking for a good water proofing method

Take caution, they state passed a law that if you don't use 25% less of your normal water usage, you'll get a 500$ fine, I'm also from California, just giving a heads up

***** With well water users California has no way of tracking usage, but we are being cautious none the less.

Blind leading the blind do not do this at home epic fail and never use a tube in this way
@sirius9450
@sirius9450 4 года назад
why? can you shed light on that? Most of have an issue that we do not want to sit in a 5' tub and we want it higher walled more to soak in it rather than it cover just our legs. does not look like epic fail. Maybe some moisture...I could not see much on construction but a full liner for the tub would be ideal.

Come on the tub does use that much water geeez. It's not like you use the fking thing 10 times a day. Most of the Ca water draught is total BS and is just a revenue for the state and local levels. Here's why 80% of the water imported is Ag and environmental which is totally unregulated and the remaining 20% which is heavy heavy regulated is for business, Government and housing. Out of that heavy regulated 20% it breaks down to 6% Business and Government and the last 14% is housing. So if we shut off ALL WATER to every house in CA we would save 14% of the water we import. What is happing now is the municipals water agency's are requesting rate increases because of the lost revenue of water saving and cut backs. So they now can sell you less water at the same price. Bottom line is we need to go after the 80% that Ag and the wacked out environmentalists lobby heavy every year to keep unregulated. So the 25% cutback is really only 25% cut back of the 14% used in housing. Let's make the 80% have the 25% cut back and ignore the tree huggers
