Why on earth would you need to set the fence square, the bits are round, you can come at it from any angle and it will be parallel to the fence and as there is no track involved it's a non issue

I guess I was just imagining myself taking a couple of passes on a piece and when I go to adjust the fence, if I only tried to move one corner back to increase the cut, knowing me, I'd inadvertently slightly move the other corner as well then I've over shot my measurement and ruined the piece. To your point, everyone else wouldn't make that mistake.

There's actually pretty well done research that shows that thumbnails/titles that elicit an immediate emotional response fare far better than what I am assuming you would consider to be "serious" thumbnails. It doesn't particularly matter what response you elicit, so much as eliciting one in the first place. You have maybe half of a second to catch the viewer's eyes while scrolling. The thumbnail grabs the eye, and the title then hooks people. That's just how it is. I'm not sure why you feel it is insulting to you, that is just a bit odd, but look at it more like one of your favorite creators is trying to reach *new* audiences as well. Key word being new. People like you and I who watch his videos already don't really care about a thumbnail. Well, maybe you do, apparently, but in general my guess is you are not walking away because you disliked the thumbnail. In fact, it seems to have worked because it clearly did elicit an emotional response, followed by more engagement in the form of a comment. The Mighty Algorithm does not concern itself with the, comparatively, trivial thoughts of humans, it cares only for engagement. Engagement includes both positive and negative. People hate-watching a video counts just as much towards the algorithm as a view that is born from curiosity and excitement. Eyes are eyes. I wouldn't worry too much, Michael, if you like the content then you should already know that the service itself, the video, is not insulting your intelligence. The video is the actual service. If your favorite film had a silly cover on it would you say the director was insulting your intelligence? No, because you know the film is wonderful, and that the marketing aspect is not the service itself. The internet era is a brave new world, and what might seem like an insult to you is really just part of a new frontier of growing an audience. Cheers.

@@MMWoodworking Wow, what a lecture. You feel better now? Maybe a little superior and virtuous, LOL. How about citing some of that research. I completely disagree with your assessment Miles but I appreciate your opinion. Colin is a great guy and I like his content despite his silly thumbnails.
