I'd like to give a special thanks to BMI Russia for translating because if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be well entertain either thank you BMI, you make me feel like the only thing that separates us is a language.
Another great video, keep up the hard work fellas! One thing you could try if you ever revisit this experiment is reinforcing the paper with a number of equally spaced sections of threaded bar going through the layers of paper, fastened with nuts and wide washers. These would keep the paper compressed for longer so you can have more fun for all that effort you put into making the wheels 😀
The test drive should have included 2 live goats riding in an open trunk and coming back from the local market. This would be a more accurate representation of real world use.
If wood fibers are mixed into the water before freezing, the ice is much stronger and even melts more slowly. There was an idea to build aircraft carriers out of this substance.www.popularmechanics.com/military/navy-ships/a27238/pykrete-ice-aircraft-carriers-wwii/
You could also do something similar by using continuous feed paper. Run the car and roll it onto a rim, while also applying glue with the roller at the same time. But this worked pretty well considering! When I saw the finished product it made me think of the Flintstones :-)
It's a cloth polishing wheel, only made from paper. Would be interesting to see how it works for polishing paintwork etc, once the stones and grit was removed.
I'm a Gas/Diesel Mechanic in the U.S.A . I work and hang out and have allot of fun with allot of mechanics but I bet you guys would be a absolutely a BLAST to hang out with. Keep up the fun Experiments...
Each section needed to be baked in the oven at 500 degrees for 2 - 8 hours depending on how much glue was used and size of sheets used. Then the final product needed to be placed in the oven at 500 degrees for an additional 8 hours to finish the bonding.
Oh crap, my apologies. I forgot to say fahrenheit, yeah, don't do celsius or bad stuff will happen. Lassi is correct, not sure why I was thinking 500 degrees - working with too much air soldering. Somewhere around 250-300 degrees is more appropriate. However, since this video is 1 month old and they've done a shit ton of stuff to the car already, I don't see the purpose in suggestions anyway. This channel is seriously lagged behind. :/ Some of the videos are 6 months behind or more.
I get the feeling that at the very beginning of this video, he really said something like "Hey there you stupid assholes from RU-vid. I hope you're having a shitty day." But the translator was nice enough to say "Hey there fellas. Y'all in good spirits? As for me, I ain't doing too bad."
I'm thinking the paper sheets could have glued together by dipping in wheat flour paste or just soaking the stack in water till the fibers got loose (great experiment for any office that gets flooded!). Stacks of cardboard would be interesting experiment too.
Also have to say a big thanks to the channel for making the videos in ultra-wide, us ultra-wide screen users sure appreciate it a lot. I know i do! Its rare seeing that in RU-vid :p
